Anyone living in a big city today will tell you that poverty and safety-net support is not just given to "rural whites" or "inner city (code word for "ghetto"
 blacks". There are plenty of "inner city whites" and "rural blacks" and both black and white suburbanites receiving government assistance.
In fact, the fastest growing rate of poverty is happening in the 'burbs. http://www.brookings.edu/papers/2010/0120_poverty_kneebone.aspx The corporate raiders and vulture capitalists have raped and pillaged even the sleek office parks, merging, and downsizing, and otherwise using scorched-earth policiesto drain money out of what they perceive as the "weak" businesses, effectively shutting them down, closing the building, and leaving the carefully manicured landscaping to go wild. |
