I don't get it. Why are so many HRC supporters so frantically belittling Sanders' Vatican invite?

A US politician was invited to speak on the idolatry of money and the problems it presents to our world. I would think that's something Democrats would see as an unambiguously positive event.

I don't understand this reaction we're seeing; these frenzied attempts to rip it apart, to belittle the gesture and all involved. What gives?

If Bernie wins, the dam will burst just like it did for Obama in 2008, where the momentum was unstoppable and all Hillary's campaign could do was to stand by helplessly, flinging poo.

That's why the New York Debate will see Hillary throwing everything she has at Bernie. Everything. It will be ugly. And it will help her lose the primary, and ultimately, the nomination. She won't be able to help herself.

Sat Apr 9, 2016, 12:18 AM
Apr 2016

The Queen and the MSM have been pretending that she looks down on this race from on high; Bernie was supposedly just a token opponent.

There are 5 Presidential candidates still in the race and the Vatican invited one. This is about as close to an endorsement from the Vatican as any political candidate will ever get. And this Pope is a rock star, as his U.S. trip last year showed.

And Bernie's trip to the Vatican occurs leading up to primaries in 5 of the 7 most heavily Catholic states in the U.S.

I would have loved to have seen the expressions on Bill's and Hillary's faces when they heard the news. Clearly, they had no idea it was coming or they would have leaked a rumor and launched a campaign to try to stop it.

Must be all the sharing of ideas and conversations and get to know you meetings they've had. Or maybe Bernie was secretly raised by Jesuits. this OP had been posted in the Bernie group, you would have a point. Lord knows we see that all the time in both the Bernie and Hillary groups.

BUT IT WASN'T

It was posted out here in a forum where EVERY Hillary supporter is free to come in here and post a response, fettered only by the practical necessity that they be able to defend their position. For example, YOU could have given us the "real reasons" Hillary supporters have tried everything from falsely claiming that Bernie "invited himself" to belittling the Pontifical Academy itself. Yes, you would have been criticized, BUT all you would need have done to counter that criticism was to support your position with facts.

Of course, YOU DIDN'T

YOU chose to attack an open forum discussion as "one-sided" when the ONLY reason it is "one-sided" is because your side doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to join the discussion stand up for itself.

WHINING is no substitute for substance.

They aren't for us. The Hillarians just haven't figured it out yet because in this election the DNC corruption favors their candidate. Brighter voters would reject the corruption completely because the next election will only be the DNC choice and it will be luck if it is a democratic voter's choice. It won't be any luck for me because I'm refusing the 1% candidates and that's the only way the DNC is going to pick.

Most of the same posters did the same with Obama. Blindly support and defense no matter if it goes against what Dems are supposed to stand for and fight for.

Issues be damned, just as long as there's pics to post and gush over. It's PoliTiger Beat.

Oh, did I forget to mention that someone told me that the Vatican did ask Clinton to speak, but her speaking fees were too high for them.

If Bernie says, factually, that it's a sunny day, HRC supporters will trot out and opposing forecast. They micro analyze every nuance, and they're usually wrong. It's a mystery. If she is the nominee, it will be hard to line up side by side with these people. And vice versa I expect. Sad state of affairs.

152. A) The Clintons have become very rich

B) The Clintons have become very rich by charging organizations that have tons of cash 5-6 figures for speaking engagements at their organizations.

C) The Clintons, having become very rich, no longer see the problem of massive wealth and income inequality as a problem. They have grown into their money.

D) The Clintons, running for office and no longer having any issue with the purpose of the conference of wealth/income inequality, therefore see their political opponent as AGAINST something their opponent is FOR, and thus attack him.

E) Clinton supporters, by definition, are largely (at minimum) satisfied with the Clintons views on things in general, and thus are largely in line with the Clintons being AGAINST something their opponent is FOR, and thus also attack him.

Doubtless some Clinton supporters are uncomfortable with attacks on Sanders on this issue, but they are also uncomfortable with being in opposition to Clinton, and thus are silent or nearly so on this topic when there are other topics for which they can be very enthusiastic about Clinton.

That was not true.

Plus, I'm wondering with pure amazement at why in the world is Sanders going out of the country 4 days before the New York primary, the MOST important one to date and the one where he could finally catch up in the delegate count?

And to an obscure academic conference where the Pope won't be instead of campaigning hard in the streets of New York?

180. Yep! Their paragon of virtue and honesty LIED about something so easily disproved... why?

It's less about he "invite" than it is about the LYING and obvious intent to deceive. And even if he was "confused" about where the invite came from (or who did the actual inviting) that doesn't speak very well for him either. Considering that he repeated the same lie twice (View and Morning Joe) it's also not a plausible defense for his campaign to claim that he misspoke or didn't hear the question properly.

Under any other circumstances, this would be a non-event. But its Bernie's supporters who have put him up on this pedestal and now we can more easily see his clay feet.

It is becoming the "lie" of the land in Clintonville. Everything negative they can throw gets thrown. They rip it all. No matter how informative, how factual, they go negative.

I guess she now has Sat 3-4 to throw more dirt. Desperate.

Bernie will be speaking with the Vatican about global poverty/wealth imbalance while Hillary charges people over a $175,000 each to have dinner with her. They have taken to a 100% smear campaign, and every attack boosts Bernie's stature, campaign, and determination.
