RACIALLY CHARGED Joke by Hillary Clinton and Bill de Blasio Earns SCORN Instead of Laughs

In less than three minutes, a comedy routine between Hillary Clinton and Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York managed to cause a storm of controversy over a racially charged joke. It happened on Saturday night when Mrs. Clinton made a surprise visit to the Inner Circle dinner, an annual black-tie event that brings together the city’s press corps, lobbyists and lawmakers. She strode on stage with Mr. de Blasio and Leslie Odom Jr., the actor who plays Aaron Burr in the hit musical “Hamilton.”

“Thanks for the endorsement, Bill,” Mrs. Clinton said to Mr. de Blasio, a former aide to Mrs. Clinton when she was a senator from New York who nonetheless dallied in supporting her. “Took you long enough.”

“Sorry, Hillary,” Mr. de Blasio said. “I was running on C.P. time,” a reference to the stereotype “Colored People Time” that drew some cringes from the audience.

Mr. Odom, who is black and appeared to be in on the joke, interrupted: “That’s not — I don’t like jokes like that, Bill.” Mrs. Clinton jumped in. “Cautious politician time. I’ve been there,” she said.

The joke quickly made its way around social media as both Mrs. Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders work to woo black voters ahead of the April 19 primary in New York. Both Mr. de Blasio and Mrs. Clinton have a reputation for running late, but the expression struck some as inappropriate.

New York magazine captured the exchange and asked “Does your wife, Chirlane, know about this joke?” referring to Mr. de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, who is African-American. Salon called the comedy skit “cringe worthy.” A headline in Gawker read “Hillary Clinton Tries to Prove She’s Not Racist with Awkward Joke About ‘Colored People Time.’”

~snip~

The joke came just days after Bill Clinton clashed with Black Lives Matter protesters who accused him of advancing policies during his administration that hurt African-American communities. A day later, the former president said he “almost” wanted to apologize to the activists.

This is a case of trying to jump on any and every Bill/Hillary "stumble" or statement to try and undermine the Clinton's support from Black voters. But this intentional flood of posts about any stumble or bumble as it relates to Black voters from Camp Sanders is so transparent. Its mainly an attempt to undermine Black support for Clinton because I'm sure Camp Sanders can't quite figure out why they don't have the majority votes of the most reliable group of Democratic voters. I'm sick of it. You don't care about "CP time"...you only care about how it can paint Hillary in a bad light and hopefully translate into Black votes. Lets tell the whole truth here.

Here are some important points made by Black Lives Activist Ashley Williams:

“Here's the truth: the Clinton legacy has left our prisons bursting at the seams. Real lives have been destroyed as a result. It is an indisputable fact that millions of Black people were locked up for drug crimes and provided the bodies for the expansion of the prison industry.

The 1994 Crime Bill that she so vigorously defended not only expanded incarceration, but stripped funding for college education from prisoners. The Clinton legacy allowed for policies that prevented anyone convicted of a felony drug offense from receiving food stamps or income assistance. Clinton-led welfare reform fundamentally ripped apart the social safety net.”

“Make no mistake, Hillary Clinton's efforts to push these policies resulted in the continued destruction of Black communities and the swift growth of our mass incarceration crisis.”

I think we have become a bit too politically correct and take offense at every little thing, I think this was in poor taste. Maybe it was meant to be an ice breaker on the topic of blacks, but there is too much racial tension out there right now and this was very poor timing.

I'm not going to be making an issue of it, and I'm surprised it's hitting the internet in a big wave...I know Hillary supporters will not be affected by it, not even black Hillary supporters.

I think it should just be dropped. I know it wasn't meant to be offensive.

I do wish, however, that to be consistent, Hillary would quit trying to use any off remark or motion from Bernie as a sexist attack, when everyone knows it was never meant that way.

Maybe this is tit for tat.

Michigan uptick --

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2016/03/09/3758035/bernie-michigan-win/

On February 27th, Hillary Clinton led Bernie Sanders among African-American voters by 52 points.

By March 26th, she led Sanders among African-Americans by just nine points.

And today, Public Policy Polling, a widely respected polling organization, released a poll showing that Sanders leads Clinton among African-American voters in Wisconsin by 11 points.

It’s all part of a dramatic national trend that has seen Clinton’s support among nonwhite voters dwindle to well under a third of what it was just a month ago — not nearly enough support to carry her, as it did throughout the Deep South, to future electoral victories in the Midwest and Northeast.
