(38,437 posts)"I want to be able to call Hillary a whore because she is one. And F*CK YOU!" It's been eye opening.

(5,240 posts)I am against that totally!
The Term "Corporate Whore" is a term that has been used for years right here at DU without outrage.
I'm sure all here know what "Corporate Whore" means.
This is the fakest outrage over something purposely twisted in an attempt to land a blow on Sen Sanders.
Forgive me if I find this whole act of outrage insincere.

(38,437 posts)The OP stands.

(38,437 posts)It's been a long time since I've been this disgusted at posters at DU, and the first time I have witnessed the complete abandonment of liberal ideals.
Maybe now you know how so many of us feel.

(14,367 posts)That has been apparent on DU for a long time now.

(57,757 posts)We've been told for a long-time that women who complain about misogyny are "weak" and that the misogynists self expression is more important than equality.
It's is ironic how this follows outrage about De Blasio's comments in NY.

(7,208 posts)She is selling influence instead of sex, hence the modifier "corporate". What she is doing is less honorable.

(68,868 posts)New York is pretty much it.
No way to spin a loss here. No talk of momentum, of southern states, of a path to victory, all of the tales they've told themselves are already fading away.

What's up? I'm trying to find a movie on Comcast tonight to watch with a sick boyfriend dealing with a nasty sinus infection. Any recommendations?

(2,348 posts)It's one thing to point out Bernie wasn't the one who said it. Perfectly fair.
Or to argue it wasn't intentional. Less believable, but worth talking about.
Defending the word itself, and claiming that it's the truth. Not at all.
As 'progressives', we're supposed to be more sensitive to such sexist language. The fact that such a large portion of the membership here was supporting the slur, if not cheering it on, disgusts me.

(6,476 posts)Give it up, if the shoe fits applies here and the man didn't say "corporate whore Hillary Clinton" so it was not only gender neutral it was applied in a general way. If everyone recognized someone in that phrase, well, where ever you go, there you are!

I'm just sayin - it could have been that - not the whole misogyny thingee...

(11,366 posts)I'm a female Bernie supporter and I have known that "corporate whore" is not gender specific for years.
Stop fanning yourself with phony righteousness.

(31,454 posts)On Thu Apr 14, 2016, 04:38 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
It's nice to see many Sanders supporters openly embracing misogyny
http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511734989
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Enough of this. This is insulting and offensive. It is disruptive and flame bait. It is meta, not about the primary, but du posters.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Apr 14, 2016, 04:43 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: This is not an argument, this is not a discussion, and there is not even a reference to some incident that sparked this comment and might reasonably be considered to consist of "evidence" that supported this opinion. This is just plain trolling.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Ugh. Enough! Nobody is embracing misogyny. This has gone well beyond stupid.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: This is fluffy, soft little furballs compared to some of the stuff I've seen hurled the other way.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't like the post, but it could be referring to people in the media or at campaign meetings, rather than DU-ers, so I feel it necessary to give the benefit of the doubt.
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Well, it's getting worse. I am so OVER seeing these types of personal attacks. AND, of the last six or seven times I've served on a jury, at least five of the posts were vile, derisive attacks on Bernie and/or his supporters. Please, just stop. If you can't say anything nice about Senator Sanders AND his supporters, don't say anything at all. Your best bet is to continue to support your candidate with FACTS and TRUTH, and STOP WITH THE PUERILE PERSONAL ATTACKS.

(31,700 posts)I consider the word "whore" to be genderless, but many don't. What would be a good genderless alternative?

(10,164 posts)And as a feminist progressive, I deeply resent that shitty insinuation. You should have the character to delete that insulting nonsense.
Then again...you're a Hillary supporters. Must keep my expectations realistic...
