2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI have to admit it...I just don't like her
I don''t like Ted Cruze or Donald Trump either.
Kasick I disagree with totally, but I kinda like him. (Would never vote for him though)
Clinton, I just don't like her. I don't like her attitude, and I think she is not what we need in a President.
I don't like what she represents, and I don't like what she and Bill have done to the Democratic Party.
Much of it boils down to that.
Sorry.
And before anyone might respond -- I like Elizabeth Warren and many otehr female Democratic politicians. And I would be comfortable with many of them running for Prez -- even the ones I might disagree with on some things.
PS: I realize it doesn't matter what my likes and dislikes are. But this is a discussion board, and that's my own 2 cents.

(8,175 posts)but my little sister was a brunette, and she had a huge white streak in her hair in her mid 20's. Now it's all white, but she dies it...only she leaves in the white streak because it's kinda cool.
And I do wish I had better hair genes, because my problem is I'm going bald. I have lost over 50% of my hair already...receding slightly and no pink spots yet, but it's so thin and lank compared to what I used to have. I always had thick beautiful hair, and now I am afraid to brush or comb it because so much comes out with every stroke.
But I'm doing a little better than my maternal grandmother. She was wearing a wig by the time she was in her early 60's because her hair (brunette) was so thin. She really had almost no hair left.

John Kerry and many film people come to mind on that one, Kerry's face is so over-processed that he looks like a Madame Toussad's wax dummy. No, what bugs me about Hillary is that her voice sounds like my cat when she wants to be fed, which is pretty much most of the time. Kind of an incessant grating cawing sound.

(60,968 posts)I think it is a right wing lie that he has done anything to his face. For one, as Senator, he was rarely out of the public eye. Years ago, there were days when those of us in the JK group watched clips of him in different hearings and on the Senate floor, what was amazing was how different he could look - on the same day - in the different settings. For some reason, lighting and the angle of the camera played a huge difference.

Seeing that you went there, I will say that though he exceeded her travel in his first 3 years, she looked far worse for wear in her days as Secretary in spite of starting her time seven years younger than he was when he started. I know he has gone to fewer countries, but that was because he spent a lot of time in Geneva, Vienna and Paris negotiating the removal of Syria's chemical weapons, the Iran deal and the Paris Climate pact - all things she has spoken of in a way that shows she would have loved them as her accomplishments.
Like yesterday when she spoke of knowing how hard it was to get 160 plus countries to agree in Paris. She did speak of Obama, but it is weirdly stated with no mention of Kerry who really did lay the ground work with the US/CHINA pact and then got many other countries on board at the interim Lima summit. He personally worked with Ban Ki-Moon. FM Fsbius and others to get those 160 plus countrues to agree in Paris. The intention was to claim credit on climate change beyond the dismal "hunting the Chinese" Copenhagen claim. In fact, that comment referring to a proud people explains why Kerry, who even hosted their team at his home in Boston and found common ground, succeeded in getting that critical key deal with China with the rest of the Obama team.

So when she said one of the southern states, I think it was North Carolina, the vowel sounds came off different than when she listed the next state that she won. I know that this is an issue for Hillary, she has a tendency to affect different accents depending on who's she speaking to. So when she speaks to southerners, she tends to sound more southern. Which is fine until you enter into a large enough group of people where you'll be pulled in too many directions at once.

I met her back in 1992 and she was self-important then.
At least Bill had charm and charisma ... because she certainly had and has ZERO.
All these years later not only has her elitism grown to unbearable proportions, but her sense of aristocratic entitlement is insufferable. She is not one of us, she is an entrenched and dedicated member of the .0001 percent.

(6,960 posts)I think Hillary with her neocon tendencies are much more likely to get the U.S. into another war than Trump or Cruz.
Given that is my estimation, then it is neither selfish nor shortsighted to keep her out of the White House.
Beacool
(30,518 posts)earthside
(6,960 posts)Because like so many of her supporters you live inside the bubble of the Hillarian fantasy world that has nothing do to with her neoliberal economic positions and her neocon foreign policy stances.
Because you don't want to see the Clinton world of billionaires and her and Bill's socializing with the elitist of the elites internationally and in the corporate world of military contractors and bankers.
Sadly, for so many Hillarians it is all about gender -- it is all about HER!
Nothing else matters in the end ... but in my opinion (which I am entitled to have), Hillary Clinton is more dangerous than Trump or Cruz.
About two months ago I decided to limit my exposure to DU -- I take a look maybe about twice a week now. Getting out of the hyper-political environment of DU is a great plus to staying in touch with the real world.
In the real world, Clinton is in big, big trouble. If she still manages to get nominated the Democrats are in for a very ugly awakening -- a lot, and I mean a lot of people don't like her and not just Repuglicans, a lot of Democrats and independents will simply not vote for her.

But I'm truly terrified by her global ambition and aggressive warmongering. I believe that Hillary will gleefully pursue PNAC goals like regieme change in Iran, involving a body-count (mostly comprising Iranian civilians, including children) dwarfing Iraq. I believe there's a decent chance that she'll start World War 3.

(718 posts)The world Sanders describes is very black and white and the world Clinton describes is in shades of grey. High contrast, like Sanders world is good for somethings, it helps you zero in on things dramatically, but if the things that are most important to you don't fall into those zones of black and white they are invisible and excluded. Grays allow for more detail. She's complex. If you want some ideas on what the appeal is, for me at least, you can message me and I don't mind having a discussion about it.

(15,628 posts)Both Bill and Hillary have been the Targets of vicious deceitful smears by the rightwing hate machine, and this has changed public perception of them unfairly.
There is plenty of legitimate criticism for their official actions and ties to the oligarchy, but I've made a conscious effort not to be influenced by rightwing smears.

But that mistrust colors everything. I just don't believe anything she says or the emotions she displays.

I really don't like him, though. He irritates me.
But he's correct on most of the issues.

(3,974 posts)We could have a presidential election between two highly unlikeable candidates. Democrats and Republicans alike would be holding their noses as they vote. That would certainly be a clear sign that there's something wrong with the system.

(68,918 posts)I could look beyond that, but I can't look beyond what she is willing to give away as President. Nope. Will I vote for her if she is lucky enough to win the nomination? Yes. Will I pay for her campaign? Nope. I'll have to save my pennies for bills and Republican policies that we yet again compromise on.

(20,176 posts)Like her, that is.
I can get people liking her positions; I disagree with those people, but I can comprehend it. I can even understand why people support her.
I am utterly befuddled by people that like her as a person though...she's genuinely unlikable. Insincere, fake, cloying, cold, impersonal. Her personality is saccharine. Do they not see it or are they attracted to people like that? It's spine-tingling and suggests something being off about those people. I wouldn't want to share a taxi with one of them.
