Sanders was out in the lobby at 6am!! when he "met" the pope!!! Was he suffering from jetlag or

lying in wait??

https://www.buzzfeed.com/tamerragriffin/bernie-sanders-says-he-met-with-the-pope

But the two met at 6am at the Vatican City guesthouse, according to NBC News, along with Sanders’ wife, Jane, and his campaign economic advisor, Jeffrey Sachs.

He couldn't have been there at 4 a.m. - not humanly possible.

New York to Rome is about 8 to 8.5 hours, non-stop.

He left at 12:30 a.m. (according to a pool reporter's Tweet). That would mean he'd be there at about 8:30 - 9 a.m. EST time, or 2:30- 3 p.m. Rome time.

He was probably just getting there and going to his room when the Pope was leaving for Lebos.

80. What is absurd here ...
Sun Apr 17, 2016, 01:54 AM
Apr 2016

... is that this entire event could have been PR gold for Bernie.

But instead, due to his campaign and supporters attempting to inflate the importance of the event, it has been turned into shit.

When asked on The View if he was going to the Vatican to meet the Pope, Bernie could have said, "No, not to meet with the Pope, but to participate in a conference at the Vatican, which I am thrilled to have to the chance to do."

Points to Bernie.

Instead, he answered "yes" to the query about whether he was going to Rome to meet the Pope.

No points for Bernie after all - instead, negative comments about having "lied" abound.

BS's campaign characterizing his participation at the conference as an "invitation from the Pope". It wasn't.

Again, no points for Bernie - instead, negative comments about having lied about who initiated the invitation.

Bernie's last-minute scheduling for a ten-minute speech could have been played as a great coup - instead it was over-inflated into Bernie "giving a major address".

Again, no points for Bernie - instead, negative comments about trying to make his role more important than it was.

Now we have the "Bernie had a personal meeting with the Pope" - and some here spinning that into having
been pre-arranged by the Pontiff. It wasn't.

Again, no points for Bernie - instead, negative comments about having lied about how the "meeting" came about, as it was later shown to be merely the result of Bernie hanging out in the lobby when he knew the Pope would be arriving momentarily.

This could have been a great moment for Bernie - had he and his campaign been honest from the start.

Instead, it has been turned into a PR nightmare, as his campaign tries to explain away their blatant lies and deliberate misinformation.

The end result is that Bernie just "berned" through hundreds of thousands of his donors' dollars - and all he got out of it is a lot of people questioning his credibility.

It shouldn't have gone this way - but it did.

Maybe Bernie should consider suing his own campaign managers/advisors - because they royally fucked-up what could have been PR gold and turned it into shit.

I don't think it was a Hillary supporter who claimed that the Pope had pre-arranged a "meeting" with Bernie - in fact, the Pope himself said quite the opposite.

These lies have been pouring out of the BS campaign all along. If they hadn't told those lies, this could have been a nice PR moment for Bernie.

94. There is no contradiction here:
Sun Apr 17, 2016, 04:41 AM
Apr 2016

Here’s what Bernie said:

“It was a real honor for my wife and I to spend some time with him,” the senator told The Associated Press on Saturday morning during an interview at a hotel rooftop overlooking St. Peter’s Square. “He is one of the extraordinary figures not only in the world today but in modern world history.”

The meeting occurred at Domus Santa Marta, the pope’s residence. The senator and his wife, Jane, were overnight guests there after attending a conference on Friday at the Vatican on economic inequality and climate change.

“I told him that I was incredibly appreciative of the incredible role that he is playing in this planet in discussing issues about the need for an economy based on morality, not greed,” Sanders told AP.

The meeting occurred before the pontiff departed for a trip to Greece to highlight the refugee crisis.

And here’s what the Pope said:

Pope Francis said his brief encounter Saturday with U.S. presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was a sign of good manners, “nothing more,” and hardly evidence of interfering in American politics.

…”This morning when I left, Sen. Sanders was there. … He knew I was leaving at that time and I had the kindness to greet him and his wife and another couple who were with them,” the pope told reporters traveling back with him to the Vatican.

“When I came down, I greeted them, shook their hands and nothing more. This is good manners. It’s called good manners and not getting mixed up in politics. If anyone thinks that greeting someone means getting involved in politics, they should see a psychiatrist,” the pope said.

Jeffrey Sachs, a Sanders foreign policy adviser, said there were no photographs taken of the pope and Sanders together. Sanders’ spokesman, Michael Briggs, said Francis was “100 percent correct that this was not a political meeting,” thanking the pope’s staff making the arrangements. He said Sanders and his wife “were advised the night before to be ready to meet the pope at 6 a.m.”

http://www.mediaite.com/online/attacking-bernie-sanders-over-his-visit-with-the-pope-is-garbage/

It sounds like the vast majority of visits with a Pontiff that I've ever heard about in my lifetime. The "stalker" slander characterization does not deserve respectful consideration.

If the Pope wanted to meet with Bernie, he is certainly in a position to have arranged one - rather than Bernie hanging out in a lobby where he knew he could have a "chance meeting" with the Pontiff.

This entire episode could have been some good PR for Bernie - if his campaign and his supporters hadn't lied about every aspect of it from the get-go.

"Be in the lobby in 15 min. His Eminence is leaving for Greece and you may be able to catch his eye as he walks past."

Or, maybe Bernardo just couldn't sleep. Common problem for trans-Atlantic travelers, especially from west to east.

You wake up at the most un-godly hours. He may have been taking a stroll to walk off the insomnia.

Not a 5 minute chat claimed by Jeffrey Sachs, just a greeting and a hand shake. Many Catholics already know this is what happened and are not impressed.

Decided to visit the bear-baiting pit just for a chuckle. The collective BSer insanity in the lead-up to NY is quite entertaining.

Lots of near-hysteria and nastiness on display.

Oh, well, it's nearly over.

And, now I think I'll be able to fall back to sleep after the soporific rantings of the BSers. See you soon!

According to the economist Jeffrey Sachs, who has also been attending the conference which ends today, the courtesy visit was prearranged. “Last night the meeting was scheduled for 6am this morning,” Sachs said in comments to CNA. “They had the chance to talk for several minutes.” No photographs were taken of the encounter.

I figured this is how it occurred.

Now the Hill camp will have to give up the current story of the Pope just shaking Bernie's hand, and it couldn't have taken five minutes.

Will they ever let this ridiculous and disgusting attack on Bernie end?

and he apologized that he could meet the conference on Friday (as originally planned) because he had to get up early for his trip Sat morning. So...he had planned on meeting the conference goers...including Bernie, and Bernie never lied about that.

It's in my post in this thread, with a link to the article. You might want to close your gaping mouth so you don't spew forth any more garbage.

Is this "Make shit up land?"

What candidate's surrogates think that they have to make shit up to win?

I can think of many GOP candidates that fit the bill.

OH! OH! AND HILLARY CLINTON!

Her surrogates do that, too.

It's sad. You are fucking pathetic!
