The Absurb Reaction (the Clooneys)

The Absurd Reaction to the George Clooney Fundraiser Proves That “Tea Party Liberals” Exist
April 18, 2016 By Allen Clifton
I really wasn’t going to write anything about the absurdity surrounding the George Clooney fundraiser, but the ridiculousness of it all became so overwhelming that I had to address it. It’s rare that I see anything as ludicrous as all of this coming from the left.

First, yes, it was an extremely high-dollar fundraiser, just like basically every other presidential candidate in history has had – even President Obama. You know, the Democrat who broke a record when it came to receiving money from Wall Street. In fact, President Obama raised a ton of money in 2008 and 2012, and had a super PAC. Yet he also went on to pass Dodd-Frank and has been a pretty damn good president. So this childish reaction to this fundraiser – including protesters throwing dollar bills at Hillary Clinton’s vehicle – is asinine. Then can I point out a pretty obvious fact? These folks throwing a hissy fit over this fundraiser, and those who actually took time out of their lives to protest it, do realize that this thing was put together by George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney, right? And are these people aware that the Clooney’s are huge human rights activists? His wife has built a large part of her career fighting for human rights all over the world. To say nothing about the fact that George Clooney has been a massive advocate for gay rights here in the U.S. and has spent a great deal of time bringing attention to many of the atrocities that have gone in on places like Darfur and Sudan. Hell, he was arrested in a protest that included Martin Luther King III at the Sudanese Embassy protesting genocide in Sudan. But people were protesting the fact that he held a fundraiser where the leading Democratic candidate was the “guest of honor”? Are you kidding me? Oh, and another thing, did these people realize that the overwhelming majority of the money that was raised is actually going to help down-ballot Democrats get elected so we can get Congress out of Republican control?

It is LOUSEY.. . . just a thin veneer.
I guess people promote it just to say they "accomplished" something to curb those darned Wall Streeters. High five!
I think it kicks in AFTER they make the economy crash again,. Woo hoo!

Hey, after massive fraud on an economy-wide scale by the megabanks, plundering hundreds of billions and crashing the entire world finance system resulting in mass unemployment and suffering globally, the government over the next eight years hit them up for a fraction of that in settlements that mooted the hundreds of criminal cases that should have been brought - effectively collecting a small chunk of the taxes due while sending a crystal-clear message to the actual decision makers responsible for mass fraud: CRIME PAYS. DO IT AGAIN!

And I do think it drove the point home about excess and oligarchy. Do y'all remember the Steinbeck quote about Americans do not see themselves as exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires (given the passage of time I would replace millionaire with billionaire and you would get the point).

This is wonderful street theater and it is so instructive

... just stupid. Simple as that, and all the liberal, tea party woo woo won't change it. When Hillary wins the nomination, I suspect this particular segment of Bernie supporters will find out just exactly how lonely they really are.

... Bernie supporters who completely ignore or miss the point. Personally, I think a large segment of Bernie supporters have a goal of doing irreparable damage to the Democratic Party. The only other thing I have to say is that I believe they are determined to send this country back into the Dark Ages by their actions. (Helping republicans)
It's like bad math. How much is two plus two? Answer 7. Wrong try again. 9? Wrong try again. 12!! Forget it.

It's no way to run a democracy. We need public funding of elections, including free air time, no PACs or Super PACs, no advertising on behalf of candidates by outside groups.
