Congrats to Hillary and her supporters, you have won, BUT....

This is an unsustainable system. Independents are the majority of voters, under the current system they are disenfranchised in too many States. I have read a number of over the line posts saying this is acceptable, Chris Matthews is going on about registering as a Dem if you want to have impact. Very Republican comments on both fronts, someone would have had to focused in October 2015 to vote in the NY Primary, to put it bluntly, that is fucked up.

My next step, to change my party affiliation to unaffiliated , in California I can do this and still vote in the Democratic primary. Thirty five years of being a Democrat is over, highly unlikely I will ever be a Dem again.

My change will mean jack shit, no impact on a state or national election, I hope it will impact those states that have rules in place that are not as democratic as CA, because in no logical realm can a Country label itself as a Democracy, yet disenfranchise such a large percentage of voters.

This Californian, and most of my family agrees. We've been having similar discussions with friends.

registered as such early last October, thus discounting all the momentum built up since then by the most inspiring candidate who would otherwise have brought many new members into the Party.

12. What's a Democrat really? It's just a state of mind. There is no secret initiation.

Seriously. You don't think some person who has been independent and then gets excited by Sanders (or even Clinton) should have the right to be able to vote for them?

Heck, if you want to limit it to long term rigid partisans only, might as well pack it in, because your voter pool will be very small.

Politics is supposed to be about welcoming and encouraging voters.

would be meaningful and get something meaningful accomplished. The Establishment is fine with this, because during the chaos and lack of activity they can just continue to pillage and plunder for all it's worth.

In particular, as the Democratic Party has drifted rightward, the Republican Party has been emboldened to go further and further Right, till they are in a land of dangerous loonytunes. But we have ourselves to blame.

If this Party would adhere to Progressive values, popular to the majority of the American people, we would win time after time after time.

13. Why would anyone congratulate them for such ugly, dirty politics?

You congratulate people for a job well done, for a game well played, not for this. Stop trying to be so politically correct that you give a high five to low deeds. Get real.
