(61,033 posts)Don't get how you guys think people are frothing at the mouth to vote for that racist, woman-hating, immigrant-hating, Muslim-hating, wall-building demagogue.
And there are videos all over that show him making outrageous statements on all of the above.
The ads make themselves and we'll run them 24/7.
In the debates Clinton will destroy him as he knows absolutely nothing on domestic policy but wisecracks.
Foreign policy, he knows even less. She'll walk circles around and make him look like the uninformed blowhard he is.

(61,033 posts)I wouldn't put much stock in it if I were you.
And right leaning independents will come out in droves to vote AGAINST another hated Clinton.
A small percentage of moderates will swing both ways as Trump's vile rhetoric doesn't really match his rather moderate political positions on many things.
And the left leaning independents have received nothing but scorn, derision, and disrespect this campaign season. Clinton is not a leftist so we will either sit out, vote only for down ticket races, or vote third party.
Why oh why is this so hard for y'all to get?!
Right leaning independents have a reason to vote for Trump. Left leaning independents have no reasons to vote for Clinton. She and y'all revile us so....

The others were Trumpers from the start pretending to be Sanders supporters to destroy Democrats from the inside. Soon they will be gone from here and on other Liberal forums. And once Warren gets behind Clinton, They become non-entities.
It will be glorious!

(3,811 posts)Here's Rueters head-to-head polling on Trump v. Clinton.
http://polling.reuters.com/#!poll/TM651Y15_13
These results go back to the date on the meme, and at no time has Rueters polling ever had Trump ahead of Hillary.
What's up with that?

(3,811 posts)of how they work rolling averages and the time-frames on each 30-day presentation, there was a single day that occurred on 3/18 that had Trump ahead by 1 point. That day quickly disappeared from subsequent presentations -- erased by rolling averages. It was a brief moment.
Rueters currently has HRC ahead of Trump by around 9 points.

(3,811 posts)Trump has won something like 35% of Republican primary votes. There are something like 60-65% of Republican voters that voted for others. Some portion of those voters really, really, don't like Trump. He's not especially popular in his own party.
When the general election season starts, the negative ads against Trump will be devastating to a lot of people, including independents.
I think Trump would lose huge against Hillary. Not only getting beaten by record amounts, but also hurting down-ticket Republicans everywhere.
If Bernie wins the nomination, great. HRC or Sanders will beat Trump easily. HRC would probably be better overall for down-ticket Democrats, in the South and elsewhere.

That pervy shit doesn't go over well in the Bible belt.
Democrats have been too polite to mention Sanders' many failings--and his personal life, his writings, and a host of other issues are like ripe fruit waiting to be plucked.
Republicans wouldn't be so circumspect. That shit would be in the fan and splattering everywhere.
But it won't matter and it won't happen, because he's done. It's all down to math, and we'll just have to wait it out until he sees the futility of his situation, and his Best Paid Aides (Devine/Weaver) realize there's no more money to suck out of the machine. This will go on for awhile, but the result will be the same if he concedes now or next month or the month after.

(23,671 posts)more of a democrat than Hillary, so he can pivot to a real liberal position probably easier than she can.
What makes this funny is that the GOP has been conned into electing a moderate (in most things) while the Democrats have moved to nominate a fairly conservative candidate.
Its nuts.

These are his stated positions.
DJ13
(23,671 posts)But there are a lot of political experts who think that once he has secured the nomination his advisers will have him pivot back towards the center, expecting Hillary will abandon it for the GE since its really not where she's comfortable.
That possibility is why so many polls have Hillary losing to Trump, and why Bernie always did better against him.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)It's what he built the whole campaign on.
BillZBubb
(10,650 posts)But Trump has a huge advantage that he's not philosophically boxed into any position. He will definitely tone that way down once he's got the republican nod. He's got leeway to modify his positions.
He's going to come across as much more reasonable. He'll continue to be very aggressive in mocking his opponent, but on the issues he's going to sell himself as a moderate. He's a master of TV and self promotion. He knows what his target audience wants to hear and he'll deliver it.
He's already to the left of Hillary on several issues and I'd expect that to extend to more. He'll sew up the independent vote and win the election--independents mainly don't like Hillary and will be more than happy to vote for a reasonable alternative. Trump knows that.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)It's like a call and response.
BillZBubb
(10,650 posts)Once he's got that done, he'll tone down his approach. He'll still want to build a wall but how he characterizes it will change.
A majority of Americans have no problem with building a wall or don't see it as a big issue. That's not going to hurt trump at all--he would lose most of the Hispanic vote under any circumstances.

(58,724 posts)This Poll Of Latino Voters Should Terrify The Republican Party
The Republican presidential nominee will need as many as 40 percent of Latino voters in some states to clinch a win in November. But ever since Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump built his campaign on promises to deport the countrys 11.3 million undocumented population and claims of Mexican immigrant rapists and drug dealers, his unpopularity has soared among Latinos.
And now theres evidence that Latino voters may be enthusiastic to hit the polls in November to defeat Trumps anti-immigrant, anti-Latino agenda.
A national poll released Thursday by Americas Voice and Latino Decisions found that 79 percent of voters had a very unfavorable opinion of Trump, with a total of 87 percent of Latinos finding him generally unfavorable. When asked about Trumps policy plan to deport the countrys 11.3 million undocumented population, 80 percent of Latino voters indicated that they were much less likely to vote for Trump, with a total of 87 percent of voters less likely to vote for Trump generally.

(10,650 posts)Her problem is the other 70% view her very negatively. That's why she's a bad choice. She will have trouble winning independent voters and bringing in new voters. It's a recipe for a GE loss.

(4,229 posts)There are quite a few independents who would never vote for Hillary.
She will also lose a lot of blue collar dems due to being so vocal on wanting restrictions on gun owners.
I think the strategy has to be to stir up so much fear about a Trump candidacy that it scares some non dems into voting for her.
We are sort of like we were in 2004. Dems are electing who they think will be the most electable in the general vs a truly bad candidate Bush/Trump.
MADem
(135,425 posts)become a winner "because Bernie."
If anything, his already evident weaknesses will be heightened, sharpened, exploited (like they haven't been to this point) by his opponent--that is, of course, if he could find a magical way to the nomination (which is very unlikely to happen).
It defies logic to think that he'll find a way forward, but logic is in short supply these days. Trump and Cruz sure want him to be the nominee, though. They're bending over backwards to tout the idea!

(1,729 posts)Maybe it was true for what, five minutes? Reuters polling has Clinton way ahead and other polls have her ahead of Trump as well. Some have Bernie a little further ahead but not by a percentage that won't be eaten for breakfast once the Republicans start doing their daily red-baiting. Let's not forget, most of that crew calls Hillary a socialist. I can only imagine what they're gonna do with Bernie. My sense is that he'd beat Trump as well, just not by any greater margin than Hillary would. Probably less.
