2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf you haven't done so yet, take a minute and sign up to volunteer for the Clinton campaign.
If you don't have time available, send the campaign a couple of bucks. Additionally, signing up will help to keep you informed on what her campaign is doing. This is going to be a huge election for us. Obama has done a great job laying the ground work and he accomplished more and more as his tenure as President went on. We need to build off that success. A possible twelve to sixteen years holding the WH is a real possibility here. That is huge. We can continue to progress in a positive direction.

(73,393 posts)crying the entire time, but I will not devote an ounce of my energy to promoting her. "She's not as bad as Trump" isn't much of a sales pitch.
I wish to God there was a way to vote against the R via the Dem, but also record our votes as one of no approval, so that the results don't look like a mandate just because we hate Trump. *sigh*

(73,393 posts)that doesn't mean I have to like it, or that I can be counted on during or after the election. (If she tries to beg for my help to pass TPP or get a corporatist on the SCOTUS, I'll be the one protesting against her.)
Thanks for the civility, though, and I respect your enthusiasm.

(718 posts)I just want to thank you for voting too.
I'm a woman and I see reproductive rights as so important, so thanks.
About the SCOTUS, I just wanted to point out that Ruth Bader Ginsberg was put in by Bill. (They're different people of course, but just pointing it out.)

(73,393 posts)more wars. My boys, who were tiny when I joined up here, are now 16 and 18. The war machine is starving for them.
Having Hillary in the Oval Office won't help me sleep any better on that score.

(6,437 posts)So I thank you, if Clinton wins the nomination, for voting against the Republicans.
GreenPartyVoter
(73,393 posts)to looking at life under an extreme Republican POTUS, instead of Hillary, who is more like a moderate one. The ** years nearly killed me with depression! (While I have found the Obama years to be a mixed bag, I guess I can take another moderate POTUS, even though my heart yearns for a very liberal one.)

(15,772 posts)My sole interest at this point is a nominee to the Supreme Court and Hillary would be a better choice than any Republican. I expect her to self destruct like Nixon who was possibly more of a moderate.

(1,820 posts)But since you are certain there will never be a draft who cares right?
gordianot
(15,772 posts)The impression I and others had of her she would cut your throat and leave you bleeding on the floor. Bill was the charmer but he was a goat. Whenever I see her smile I get the creeps. Bottom line for Hillary she is paid by someone for everything she does, same goes for Bill. Do not make the mistake of attributing personal motives to Hillary she is well paid for what she does and can get Democrats to go along with doing.
Silver_Witch
(1,820 posts)I have worked with women much like her. They stay with goats because of power or reward....the forgivenesss is just BS for show...it is really about money or power.
I don't look forward to 4 years of a Hillary Presidency in any way...
gordianot
(15,772 posts)That is if the Republican is not favorably competitive I expect an early October surprise. The gloves come off after the Democratic Convention. Cruz and Trump have as much baggage but Hillary made someone angry probably at the NSA. What I cannot figure is how she got this far? The rot must be deep. They should have given her the ultra secure Blackberry specially manufactured for Obama and Michelle. Hillary has an internet addiction that matches her ego.

(9,870 posts)Dr. Jill Stein is an outstanding candidate and would be the first woman President. As a Democrat, I feel I've been cheated out of honest representation more than once now over the last few years.

Thanks.

(37,428 posts)Depending on whether she can convince me that she has heard all our voices and understands that she herself must take a different path.
I have volunteered for Democrats before, but so far my enthusiasm for more of the same ol' is weak. Making her the first woman president is something, but I need to see her commit to preserving the nation for long enough for other women, and people of every other station, to succeed her.
If she wins the nomination, I promise you I'll look for ways to engage.
