http://www.commondreams.org/news/2016/04/22/backing-bernies-bold-vision-biden-knocks-hillarys-no-we-cant-mantra"I don't think any Democrat's ever won saying, 'We can't think that big,'" the vice president said.
Although Vice President Joe Biden has promised to stay neutral on the Democratic presidential candidates this campaign season, he offered high praise for Bernie Sanders' message in an interview with the New York Times published Thursday: Biden will "take Mr. Sanders' aspirational approach over Mrs. Clinton's caution any day," the newspaper reports.
"I like the idea of saying, 'We can do much more,' because we can," Biden told the Times.
The vice president had harsh words for Clinton's call for slow, incremental change over political revolution. Biden said, "I don't think any Democrat's ever won saying, 'We can't think that bigwe ought to really downsize here because it's not realistic," he said in a mocking tone, according to the newspaper. "C'mon man, this is the Democratic Party! I'm not part of the party that says, 'Well, we can't do it.'"

Golly Gee Joe....Where were you 6 months ago?

(1,662 posts)I'm so tired of seeing the Democratic party rolling over to the will of the Republicans.
Obama was given the House and Senate and he allowed the republicans to do nothing but obstruct.
"No we can't" have a public option was the first of many bogus compromises because the Democratic party lacks the courage to stand up to the Republicans and mega-corporations and speak the truth to the American people.
Ferd Berfel
(3,687 posts)it was almost as thought he wanted them to obstruct. I've always had a hard time believing anyone that could make it to the WH could be THAT terrible at negotiating.....
...then ...
he put Social Security on the chopping block, and the coup de grace - TPP

(154,021 posts)this is why he is not running. I give Joe a lot of room.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)... Bernie supporters on this site were ripping Biden apart when the potential of his running came up in the fall.
Biden=Obama=Hillary=bad ... that was the meme.
Now, some selective quotes and Bernie folks love Joe all of a sudden.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)go on...
JUST FOR ONCE try to back that with a link
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)... and I did not say ALL Bernie supporters ... and everything is not just about you.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)I made that point repeatedly, But since you addressed me, I again challenge you. Give me a fucking link.
I really could care less if you nominate the man on the moon, but at this point you made it personal answering to me. So put up, or shut the fuck up.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)Ok ... my mistake!!
I'm sorry, and I did not mean to offend you on that point. I did not expect thinking one was a Bernie supporter would be an insult, but ok, I stand corrected.
As for making it "personal" ... I have to laugh ... "making it personal" on an anonymous internet forum?
I responded to a post you made about things to remember.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)noted.
How typical.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)Bernie supporters were not Biden fans in the fall. Just a fact.
They claimed he was part of the failed Obama, Biden, Hillary administration.
Suddenly, he's awesome ... and the reason, funny story, is because of a couple quotes being twisted through multiple media sources.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)I want you to quote me, chapter and verse. Good luck,
You made it that personal, put up or shut up
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)Or those in the original New Your Times article have Biden actually comparing Bernie and Hillary.

What I do see is selective quoting surrounded by conclusions of those pushing an agenda.
Big surprise. My favorite is how CommonFantasies put quotes around a statement by the NY times reporter as if Biden said it. Go back to their article and see if you can find it.
Propaganda at its best!!!

(62,325 posts)a good guy'. Praising his focus on the money in politics. I get the impression he's not at all fond of Hillary.
Ferd Berfel
(3,687 posts)to vote for Bernie I missed it.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)That's back when Biden was going to replace Hillary or some such nonsense.

(62,325 posts)He met with Bernie in Oct to discuss Citizens United, which seems to have become a major issue for him and which I stated back when people thought he might run, he would have to do what Bernie is doing, refuse Corp money if he ran considering all this statements, see his meeting with Bernie eg, about the poisonous effects of money in politics.
He also told another group of young people that they must make this, as Bernie has, their #1 issue because until it was addressed 'we can get nothing else done'. No doubt since he to the WH with Obama, he sees clearly the horrific effects of that money and who is really running things.
Anyone the linked OP is one of at least two I believe I wrote about Biden and Bernie ...
Ferd Berfel
(3,687 posts)I didmiss that. Great OP's BTW.
A little bit different perspective on Biden now.
libdem4life
(13,877 posts)That would make sense. That's probably why Bernie ought to be increasing his numbers as he's better known and moves into the West
Ferd Berfel
(3,687 posts)and now - in the 11th hour - he's found his guts?
Well, Ok if he starts actively supporting and campaigning for Bernie - out loud, in public, often.....

(62,325 posts)However, Joe seems to be trying to make up for his own role in accepting Corporate Money, he's been speaking out about the corrupting effects of that money over the past year, telling people that Bernie is right. He has been a VP now and seen the horrific influence of that money on our nation and it's possible that he has 'evolved' on the issue, it certainly seems so.
See here for more from Biden on Bernie's main issue:

(62,325 posts)outraged that the man who gave us Clarence Thomas, David Brock, is now a Hillary surrogate, working in coordination with her campaign, claiming they are not violating Campaign Finance laws by working together on her campaign.
One of the many reasons who I do not support her. Her friends are not people you could pay me to associate with, Brock, Kissinger, Petraeus, or 'betrayus' as Moveon presciently referred to him. But Hillary loves her some Petraeus and McCrystal, another one who betrayed Obama.
Yeah, Joe and and all Dems should have vote 'no' on Thomas. At the time I was so puzzled by Dems who did not. But now of course, everything has become so clear.
