What is the point of the photo?
He has Parkinson's Disease and it affects his countenance, his gait, and his expression. He's in a wheel chair now.
Do you think people with profound physical challenges are funny?

I choose to remember him when he was young, virile, and vibrant.
When you are not denigrating people with Parkinson's Disease are you throwing rocks at blind people?

Do you think you intimidate me with your language? Am I supposed to be scared? I assuredly am not. I would literally wager my life on that proposition.
Out of all the photos of Muhammad Ali you chose that one to denigrate him.

Here is he with President Nkrumah:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/118744485#post76
That was the prelude to the notification I received that you were banned for stalking me.
When I was a young man I knew a young woman who was stalking me. I lived In Daytona Beach Shores at the time and spent a lot of time on Daytona Beach which is just across the Halifax River. I used to work out three hours a day because I wanted to be a professional bodybuilder. One of my work out partners was Boyer Coe so I looked pretty good. I got to spend a lot of time on the beach because I was a bouncer at night at Mac's Famous Bar and The other Place. Any way, one day I look out my window and there was this young woman, a local like me, that I knew from the beach. She was there with her two girlfriends peering into my patio door window.
I was flattered by her stalking. Your stalking is creeping me out. God help me if I ever see you peering into my patio window. Luckily I live on the third floor and far from you.
Obsession
Sweet Lord.

(101,852 posts)What's your point?
Many people get Parkinson's Disease. Getting repetitive blows to the head certainly contributes to it. However many people who never stepped into a boxing ring suffer from it. The fact you would take relish in lambasting someone who suffers from it reveals more about you than it can ever reveal about them.
The man is one of the leading African American figures of the twentieth century, a cultural icon, and an inspiration to many. You are verbally defecating all over him in this thread. I am humbled to have this opportunity to defend him.
As I have said, ad infinitum and ad nauseam, if you were half the man in real life he was in the ring you might actually like yourself.

Just post the photos.
I have seen lots of unsettling things. My mom died in my arms. My mom was ninety years old and in failing health. She was having more and more transient ischemic attacks (mini strokes) toward the end of her life. One morning she woke up and couldn't talk... That was scary. I called 911 but by the time they arrived she was able to talk again. That's the nature of mini strokes. Any way they said it was best if they took her to the hospital for tests. My mom was one tough woman... After a while she said " I want to go home" so I complied. When I was helping her into my car she went limp. Wow! The nurse checked her pulse and rolled her back in the wheel chair...They do a code blue, just like you see in the movies, and several nurses all come to the E R Operating room. They hook the defibilator to her chest and I can see her levitate off the table from the shock.
So go ahead and show me your scary images, pal. I doubt they will move me.
You know, bvf, somebody like you could only exist on the internet.
bvf
(6,604 posts)Do you find dredging up stories of your loved ones' personal tragedies in the company of complete strangers beneficial in some way?
Now, that's twisted--especially in conjunction with your expressed desire to look at hospital photos of a punch-drunk old man.
That's fucked up, and I refuse to feed your fetish.
But enjoy this:
Look! Ali being felt up by a nun. (I'm guessing he's had 3,000 punches to the head by this point.)

From your pathetic requests that I post disturbing pictures for your entertainment, to your need to tell absolute strangers tales of personal trauma, to your strange worship of a guy who made his living getting punched in the head, to your delusional expectation that anyone would waste time on your links, "inane" is le mot juste.

In the Sixties there was a phrase among Black people: Tell it like it is. Very few people are willing to speak of life in these terms, but there were two persons, possibly because of their association with Ali, who told it like it was. One of them was Ferdie Pacheco, known as boxings fight doctor. He was in a position to observe Alis effect on the populations surrounding him, and on the communities that he visited during his boxing career. Pacheco reminds us that Ali singlehandedly defused the idea that Black was ugly, and points out that prior to Ali:
Blacks were considered subhuman hard word for me to say, but thats what they were. In the South especially. Thats where Alis from, in the South. He comes along and by dint of his athletic ability, his graciousness, his funniness, his personality, and this incredibly good-looking body and face, he says to the camera, Black is beautiful. Look at me. Im prettier than anybody in Hollywood and Im black. By the time he got through, he had defused the idea that black was ugly. You dont have to worry about being black. Black is beautiful. And in that context alone, if you didnt look at anything else, he was just as big as Martin Luther King, or anybody else, cause he got black people thinking that they were good, nay, that they were better.[45]

Temper, temper, little man, you might actually hurt yourself
Ad nauseam is a Latin term for disgust that has continued so long that it has continued "to [the point of] nausea".For example, the sentence "This topic has been discussed ad nauseam" signifies that the topic in question has been discussed extensively, and that those involved in the discussion have grown tired of it.
Ad infinitum is a Latin phrase meaning "to infinity" or "forevermore".
As I have said, ad nauseam and ad infinitum, little man, if you were half the man in real life Muhammad Ali was in the ring you might actually like yourself.

It is, indeed, SHOCKING to me to read that other guy's ridicule of Mohammed Ali. I am old enough to remember the Vietnam War. Some of the boys from my high school served in that war. Many young men of all colors, and some young women, served in the US military in that war. And many of them died or were maimed or otherwise ruined in that war. And that was also true of many, many, many Vietnamese in that war. I remember the utter shame and misery of being a young American in that time, with increasing evidence that it was an unjust, unnecessary, futile, vicious war, and seeing so many boys sent off to be traumatized or physically maimed or killed, wreaking such havoc on that tiny nation that had not attacked us. And then came the stories about how so many of the Black young men were being treated even worse, and that made it even worse! You may think we white kids didn't care about that, but oh yes we did! And nothing we said or did seemed to make any difference. And then this young Black guy, Mohammed Ali, had the guts and ingenuity to STAND UP to the white supremacist architects of the mass murder machine that was that war. He not only defied their draft call; he showed other Black guys some tricks that could work! And he wouldn't shut up about it! It was part of what we had hoped for, especially those of us who had read that poem that says, Nobody sets a free man free; a free man sets himself free. I always wonder how many Black young men lived because Mohammed Ali used his strength, his guts, and his intelligence to stand up as a champion at that crucial hour.

When folks have the opportunity to post on whatever they want some of them will invariably post on race. There was this one poster named weezer who constantly pushed the envelope. The numbers are accurate, but both Democratic and Republican pollsters say that they dont mean as much as Sanders says they do.
To be sure, Clinton also makes the case that she would be a stronger candidate in a general election due to her experience and ability to compromise. But Sanders emphasis on the polls is misguided, experts say.
General election polls taken months before voting day have a history of being wrong. According to data compiled by FiveThirtyEight, general election polls taken a year in advance have been inaccurate by more than 5 percentage points in the last 10 out of 14 elections for which there is data.
Even polls six months out are inaccurate, too. For example, at this point in the 2000 election, late April polls showed then-Gov. George W. Bush with a strong national lead of five points over then-Vice President Al Gore. Bush lost the popular vote to Gore by half a percentage point that November.
