The thing you people don't seem to understand is that Hillary will no longer be of use to Wall Street once it's her vs Trump. They win either way. I don't think they'll feel the need to give either candidate any money, which is bad news for Her Majesty. Trump may be a racist prick, but he can buy and sell Hillary all day long. He's got more in his sofa cushions than she has in her slush fund.

(1,163 posts)I'm on your side here. I was referring to millions who voted for the inevitable one.
I agree, the banks win either way and they knew this going into it.
Frankly, I think Hillary would be considerably friendlier to the banks compared to Trump.
She still has to get Chelsea elected. Clinton ambition knows no limits.

(934 posts)to funds that were not spent? If Sanders loses the nomination and still has money, can he roll it over to other candidates?
JohnnyRingo
(20,870 posts)I imagine he has outstanding payroll costs and merchandise bills. He has staffers leaving who he probably owes severance to. Taking a last grab at cash just before the podium comes down is a typical move.
I'm no lawyer, but I think leftover money can go to future campaigns or rolled into other races. I wonder if Bernie will turn over any surplus to the DNC to help other Democrats? My guess is he'll spend it on a hand painted Fairy Sheppard yard sign and a truck full of campaign pool noodles first.

(2,951 posts)On to California. 287 delegates separate the 2 candidates. Over 1200 still outstanding.
TBF
(36,668 posts)a lot of primaries to discuss before we get anywhere near Bernie. Shall we start with the weighed coins in Iowa? Or the bullhorn in Massachusetts? Entire buildings purged from the voter rolls in NYC? Do you need me to continue because there is quite a list ...

(36,668 posts)287 delegates separate the 2 candidates and there are over 1200 delegates outstanding. Explain to me again how 287 is greater than 1200. Is this the "new math"?
Gomez163
(2,039 posts)the superdelegates. He has no chance of catching up with the proportional allocation of delegates.
TBF
(36,668 posts)it's been decided at convention before. Read your history youngster. Here, I'll even help you. From Hillary's own favorite NYTimes: http://campaigningforhistory.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/05/14/fdrs-rough-road-to-nomination/?_r=0 (How FDR gets the nomination - see any parallels?)
Gomez163
(2,039 posts)You're still going with the fantasy of super delegates switching? The candidate with the lead in both popular vote (3 million) and delegate count will suddenly, magically be tossed aside for Sanders, the part-time Democrat, the hitchhiker demanding the keys to the car because . . .???
And btw, Bernie Sanders is no FDR.
I think Senator Sanders is far more reasonable than his supporters or primo campaign manager, Jeff Weaver. I could be wrong but I suspect Bernie Sanders, the man, knows absolutely that there is no path to the nomination without a cloud of fairy dust to get him there. He wants to fight for a progressive platform? Fine but he needs to get real with his base. And his base? They need to deal with reality:
Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee for POTUS 2016. She will be the first female President of the United States, a life- long liberal who has survived the slings and arrows of lesser men--much lesser men--a woman of the moment, the 21st century, someone who will make us proud and make history in a field of noise and nonsense and Republican craziness.
Time to deal with it.
Hillary Clinton? She's Rising.

He is old, he is done stick a fork in him, he is a little man, he is a liar (yet he hasn't lied like you know who) he is attacking Hillary (she attacked first) he is yada yada yada...Just stop it. He is in this to the convention and he needs money for advertising for the rest of the campaign to CA. Enough! YES HE IS FUNDRAISING AND SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR $27.00 NOT $2.70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you can do it so can I.

(7,229 posts)He wants to implement a radical progressive agenda, fine, but how's he going to do that with the Congress we have now? The paradox of the entire Sanders campaign is that he has done practically nothing on behalf of down-ticket Democratic candidates. Maybe he thinks his wagging finger is a magic wand that will turn the majority Republicans in Congress into an assembly of Students for a Democratic Society.
I've never met a Bernie supporter who had a cogent answer to this.

We're giving directly. Millions of bucks to candidates like to Tim Canova working to unseat DNC Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
Turns out Hillary's colluding with the DNC. Those funds she's ostensibly raising? Virtually all of its going to Hillary, laundered thru the DNC.
So we're bypassing them.

(5,792 posts)"Coming out of last night's results, in which we won Rhode Island but came up short in four others, I want to pose to you three things that I know to be true:
Young people the future of our country continue to vote for our campaign in overwhelming numbers. It's remarkable, and honestly quite humbling.
When we compete in open primaries that encourage the participation of independents, new voters, and young people, we do very well.
What remains in front of us is a very narrow path to the nomination. In the weeks to come we will be competing in a series of states that are very favorable to us including California. Just like after March 15 when we won 8 of the next 9 contests we are building tremendous momentum going into the convention.
That is the reality of where we are right now, and why we are going to fight for every delegate and every vote. It is why I am going to continue to speak to voters in every state about the very important issues facing our country. Our country cannot afford to stop fighting for a $15 minimum wage, to overturn Citizens United, or to get universal health care for every man, woman, and child in America.
I'm asking you to help me continue to lead these fights. We have an FEC deadline on Saturday and another primary on Tuesday. Every vote we earn and every delegate we win is a testament to our ideas, to our movement, to our political revolution, and our willingness to take this campaign for the Democratic nomination all the way to the convention.
Will you contribute to help us continue to speak to voters about the incredibly important issues facing our country? Your support right now before two big deadlines will send an unmistakable message that our voices will still be heard."
Here he lists amounts you can choose!
"There is no doubt in my mind that what you and I have done together up to this point is nothing short of historic. And I know that if we are going to work together, we will continue making history.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders"

(20,870 posts)Forget those quarters they find down in the couch, Bernie needs millions to continue to the convention. If his people believe he really is still in the running, they should put their money where their mouths are and top off their donations to the $2500 limit.
Sell their car, mortgage the house, get a second job, but do whatever they have to do to get that cash in Sanders' war chest. If they truly believe he's "going all the way", and they believe this is a the end of America as we know it, it'll be worth it.
Did they really think they could fund a revolution on pocket change? Personally, I think they know Sanders never had a chance and "donated" by buying a couple bumper stickers. More trend followers than activists.
