2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumQuick update on Ohio, from someone who knows...
...Just had a follow-up call from my contact in the Ohio Democratic Party. 1800 people out canvassing in bad weather. Voting models looking good; No problems with early voting and Obama is AHEAD of 2008 early voting performance. They expect to bank enough votes to deal with anything that might happen on election day.

(8,361 posts)power lines may be down all over the northeast - not much voting will take place without power - and parts of Ohio might be affected.

(576 posts)is the big swing part. It lies beyond the Appalachian Mountain range and should have no problems.
Eastern Ohio (cleveland et al) is Obama's biggest base part of the state. It could experience problems but I dont imagine it wont be anything the region isnt prepared for. They are very used to lake effect snowfalls, so extreme weather is manageable.

Remember how he explained winter in Afghanistan? The man is a weather predicting genius.
Awe-inspiring really.

(38,824 posts)I spent most of the day yesterday at the BOE I'm assigned to observing opening the mailed in absentee ballots, getting them ready to be scanned, and scanning the first 1000 or so. The Republican observers left at 9:00 AM (they started at 8:00 AM), and10:30. Wimps.
I'll be there all day Sat and Sun next weekend during the only weekend voting and I'm the troubleshooter/fill in observer on Election day. (Observers are credentialed at a single polling place; those assigned to the BOE are permitted to go to any polling place in the county.)

(52,858 posts)Many thanks for your time and work in helping to get our man re-elected.
Don't let anyone f**k w/you.
We so need the age group of 18-30 to vote in this election and just everyone to come out strong.
I live in Calif. and only wish I could be working there the next 9 days.
I want to see Hannity, Coulter, Rove, Dick Morris and all the other righty shits pull their hair out on election night and be punished for all their scum lies.

(I've made it no secret I won't exhale until it is over and the votes are counted, and maybe not even then). But anyway, someone did say that they were looking for walk teams or something.

(275 posts)I've heard stories that Team Obama has two to three times the ground game that Romney has; also heard that the democratic party never withdrew much of the infrastructure from the 2008 campaign. Is this true?
It seems no matter which way the demographic balances out in the closely contested state, if we can get 70-80% registered democrat turn-out vs 55-65% republican then its pretty much the election in the bag as Romney won't win without Ohio.
