Bernie Sanders: ‘We’re taking the campaign to the Convention.’ Media: ‘He just threw in the towel.’

http://www.rawstory.com/2016/04/bernie-sanders-were-taking-the-campaign-to-the-convention-media-he-just-threw-in-the-towel/

After Hillary Clinton won four out five states Bernie Sanders released the following statement:

The people in every state in this country should have the right to determine who they want as president and what the agenda of the Democratic Party should be. That’s why we are in this race until the last vote is cast. That is why this campaign is going to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia with as many delegates as possible to fight for a progressive party platform that calls for a $15 an hour minimum wage, an end to our disastrous trade policies, a Medicare-for-all health care system, breaking up Wall Street financial institutions, ending fracking in our country, making public colleges and universities tuition free and passing a carbon tax so we can effectively address the planetary crisis of climate change.

Call me crazy, but if I had to boil this down into a nugget of a take away, I’d say something like, “Sanders vows to stay in the race!” or “Sanders will campaign all the way to the Convention,” or “Sanders will push progressive values and platforms.”

But that’s not the dominant narrative among pundits or headlines.

“It is fair to say that this Democratic contest is effectively over.” – Rachel Maddow on MSNBC
[something similar to what Maddow said that I can’t remember but saw and it was the same idea.] – Lawrence O’Donnell.
“Bernie Sanders’ campaign just dropped a major hint that the race is over.” – Headline, by Matt Yglesias at Vox.
“Bernie statement admits he’s no longer in this to get the nomination.” – Molly Ball, Atlantic political writer, on Twitter.
“Bernie Sanders Surrenders Nomination Fight While Congratulating Clinton On Primary Wins.” –Politics USA headline.
“Sanders Hints at Endgame.” –Newser headline.
“Comments Proved He’s Finally Winding His Campaign Down” – Bustle headline.
“Bernie Sanders Campaign Just Conceded Nomination Fight, Congratulates Clinton” – Liberal America headline.
“Bernie Sanders Shifts Focus From Nomination to Influencing Presidential Race.” The Wrap, headline.

Maybe Sanders is reprioritizing. But that’s kind of not the point. The point is what much of mainstream media chooses to prioritize through its framing and coverage.

the more likely it will come to be true.

That is the nature of the RW brain. DLC, Blue Dog Third Way Neo-Dem, all disenfranchised Republicans. They are predisposed to being led around.

Bernie wants to take the $$ out of Politics. That literally boils down to eliminating Hundreds of Millions of dollars (at least) in advertising revenue from the TV and Radio media corporations. They don't' like that.

but all the critical issues of the day that are omitted from ever getting covered in blatant attempts to dumb the people down.

It's nothing but a mass, tragic deception aimed at dividing and cynically manipulating the American People by every form of fault line.

If the U.S. were to degrade into anarchy I see no major institution contributing more to that desperate state of affairs than the corporate media conglomerates, no other institution approaches their propaganda power of persuasion and misinformation.

They could actually fight to enlighten the people, raising them up while being champions for democracy, world peace and every manner of true justice under the sun but have instead decided to turn toward the dark side and a self-serving lust for lucre, I've got mine so screw you.

bought and paid for corporate shill on CNN. The shill asked if a NY Times report that Bernie was hanging it up was true. Jane replied emphatically that it was not true and that Bernie was forging ahead to compete in the remaining primaries and on to the convention. Her response could not have been more clear. So what does the shill do? Does she move on to another topic? Hell, no, she asks the exact same goddamn question again. I don't know if her hearing's bad, or she doesn't process information well, or if she was hoping for a different response or what. But Mrs. Sanders patiently gave the exact same answer she had given not 30 seconds before.

The corporate media has had it in for Bernie from the get-go, but the shit is really off the rails at this point. I hope he sweeps the west and leaves these babbling idiots looking like the fools they are.

They won't be much good at reporting on our platform, either, or at vetting the nominees and running mates.

Hard work bores them, and progressives, at least, have the hardest work of all ahead. Our revolution won't be televised any more than the MSM can help.

They think they can create reality. And they do, in their eyes. But any one who is half-way tuned in and has half a brain and who is FOR Bernie, knows all about M$M's lies and propaganda. We know Bernie isn't going to quit like, oh let's see... Al Gore or John Kerry (the establishment). Bernie is a fighter and has the strength of his fierce convictions. Any other candidate in his position would have thrown up their hands and quit by this point. But not Bernie. He has promised to stay in it until all states have had a chance to vote in the Primary. Hillary and the Repugnant opposition might as well settle down and stop getting their feathers in a wad. Bernie is in this for the duration.

of when they're going to throw in the towel until they do it. Sanders has been mathematically eliminated but wants to run until the end of the primaries,he's not going to tell his donors that there's an end date.

The use of force in this election and the buying of mainstream and online media for propaganda purposes sounds more like a regime than a democratic Republic.
