suggestion for a new 'ALERT' reason: "Post is STUPID"...should appeal to all supporters of HRC & BS.

of course, it would shut down DU as a fluid, functioning website almost immediately...

but what the hell, everybody would be happy and pissed off all at the same time...

Exactly. Most of alerts I've "judged" should have been handled with rebuttal, not childish alerts. Hoyt Apr 2016 #3

Call stupid posts stupid, just don't call the poster stupid. The latter risks a hide even when it's blatantly obvious as a truth.

That even if a person posts something well thought out and without fallacy errors inevitably someone will call the poster stupid just because they themselves can't think.

even when it's true. Calling a post stupid while pointing out the errors in logic or fact is a different matter.

but I'm in the same boat: it's sometimes like being dragged into a fight between 5-year olds.

sometimes the threads on some OPs just take on lives of their own...they need like a sidebar section for 'your post is stupid' replies so the replies addressing the main thrust of the OP don't get lost in the detritus...

on edit: i meant to say thanks, too...

...many people on both sides believe everyone (or most people) on the other side are stupid, this wouldn't work out very well.

I'm of the opinion that some loud people on the other side post stupid things and some loud people on my side post stupid things but I'm not sure I could alert/not alert and completely ignore any bias I might have on this issue.

I'm not sure that this post is serious (I suspect not) but I don't see any way it could work without every single post being alerted on for being stupid.
