Related: About this forumClinton Camp says She's Been Forced to the Left Enough Already
After Clinton claimed more victories in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania this week, Sanders said, "we are in this race until the last vote is cast," adding that his campaign would head "to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia with as many delegates as possible to fight for a progressive party platform."
Steps forward on issues that would constitute such a platform can already be seen in the race, observers say. As Max Ehrenfreund writes at Washington Post's Wonkblog Friday,
In the course of fending off Sanders's challenge, Clinton appears to have conceded to him on a couple of major economic policy issues. The former U.S. senator and secretary of state has abandoned the centrist positions she previously held on trade and Social Security and taken stances closer to Sanders's views.
Forced to the left?
This is a real Democrat???

(58,785 posts)will admit, but I am hoping that she will do everything possible to rev up the return of our nation's wealth and power to the many. She may be intending to do all she believes will be possible now, even if we take the Senate, but I think it'll always be helpful to add some additional pressure that says consistently, "We want more!"

Presumably, she was not there telling them why she would be a poor candidate for president. I would like to see what they saw and heard.
Just what could it be that we are not supposed to know about? Some 47% comments like Robmy made? Maybe envy and class warfare? Her telling them she has their backs? There is only one way to know.

(4,451 posts)I personally think she has a right to make money. HOW MUCH is only contested because she is a woman. No man has ever had to put out speeches! She is right to not heed to demands never asked of a MAN.

(13,571 posts)They finance her campaign and Wall Street is a huge part of our problems in this country. So what is she promising them that is so secret for the rest of us? If it's all wonderful stuff that would be great for the entire country, she should want us to hear it shouldn't she? It seems it must be things that would hurt her campaign. But you already know that.

It's mystifying that the establishment is still hanging on to the asinine notion that Dems need to look more like Republicans to win Independents.

When we look at what Bernie has done, we like what we see.
Actions speak louder than words.
Bill Clinton signed so many bills that have harmed our country starting with NAFTA and ending with the Commodities Futures Act which was hidden in a rush omnibus budget bill. Horrors!

(34,845 posts)Clinton's proposal of $12/hour was a trial balloon to see if Republicans would bite. What we should all be pushing for is indexing the minimum wage to the cost of living. Then we'd never need to fight this battle again.
And please don't say -as others have- that starting with a lower number is a sin against the art of negotiation. Republicans in Congress are not rational creatures. You can't treat them as such.

(14,255 posts)to Hillary's not liberal or Progressive at all campaign. Looks like she cannot even pretend to have budged from the right. It seems to offend her that all Democrats do not bow down.
Bernie was supposed to fade away quite a while ago, hand over his supporters and money and grassroots organization to Hillary, and then campaign for her or else quietly go back to Congress. Didn't happen, is not going to happen, and peevishness is morphing into anger, IMO. Obama was spot on with that trudging up the hill with Hillary thing. She was already supposed to be at the top. Now there are huge swaths of voters who just will not vote for her.

I am sure that was the DNC's expectation. (Just like the RNC expected Trump to fade away. Neither "*NC" seemed to see the train coming down the tracks.) We surprised them.
There always were. They have just added many on the left to the 'huge swaths' on the right that already existed.

(1,122 posts)She is not that savvy a politician. But she is great as an insider. And both parties (and the military industrial complex, corporations, power structures), from behind the scenes, want a president Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump.

(30,058 posts)On gun issues. Hillary has realistic agenda issues, his agenda will cost $17 trillion in ten years, Hillary's will cost $1 trillion in ten years. Sanders has moved to Hillary's position on SS, her position is to restart FICA on wages of $250,000 and up in order to keep SS further.
