Bernie Sanders’s fundraising drops off sharply in April

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/05/01/bernie-sanderss-fundraising-drops-off-sharply-in-april/

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said he raised $25.8 million in April, well shy of his eye-popping totals of recent months.

The figure comes as Sanders’s chance of defeating Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination have dwindled, with his loss to her in the New York primary on April 19 widely viewed as a turning point in the race.

Sanders’s take, raised almost entirely online, fell about $20 million short of the $46 million he posted in March. His haul was still sizable by some measures: Clinton reported having raised about $27 million in March, not much more than Sanders’s take in April.

Sanders will likely be asking Clinton to help him retire his campaign debt, when this is all over.

He plans his expenses well. I do not like you Hillary supporters for your greedy joy of putting down Bernie's character or his campaign. He has done a fabulous job, put his life on the line for justice and is honest and trustworthy. Which your candidate is not.

The available data shows that through the end of March, Clinton had more funds available (not even counting superpac money) than Sanders. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/us/elections/election-2016-campaign-money-race.html?_r=0

If you have other data, please post.

But it had nothing to do with Bernie.

There about 3 million high school seniors graduating this spring and about 20 million students enrolled in college for the fall.

For many of us—
April is when we paid for prom tickets and attire, etc.
April is when we bought graduation tickets, gifts, class rings, photos, etc.
April is when we put down a deposit for college and student housing. The nationwide deadline is May 1 and many people waited until the 11th hour (April 30) for all decisions to come in.
April is when we received the FAFSA decision, applied and/or accepted student loans and now know how much debt we will have for the next year.

Also, taxes were due two weeks ago. For many people that meant having to pay the IRS (or an accountant.)

Obviously not everyone was in the same position as me, but many were and in April, there just wasn't anything extra to give.

Bernie raised nearly 26 million in April.

His campaign said after April, it has received 7.4 million total contributions from 2.4 million individual donors, totaling $210 million.

It pointed out that his nearly $26 million April haul topped Clinton's $21 million in March. Clinton has not yet released her April numbers.

He's going to have to ask the DNC for some of that "obscene" money Hillary raised for other candidates.

I hope they laugh in his face.
