"Here we are. My eighth and final appearance at this unique event. And I am excited. If this material works well, Im gonna use it at Goldman Sachs next year. Earn me some serious Tubmans! Thats right. Thats right."
Is this funny?
Kinda a sore subject during the primaries...

(1,213 posts)But I don't find it funny because Obama failed to hold Wall Street accountable and probably will make money giving speeches to bankers in the near future.
This should be unacceptable to people.

(24,979 posts)If it wasn't so damned serious, I'd be impressed at how consistently the Clintonistas go for this strategy of saying the exact opposite and repeating it 1000 times until it appears to stick.

(10,164 posts)Um...do you have anything whatsoever beyond your own speculation for that assertion?
J_J_
(1,213 posts)...Starts getting paid hundreds of thousands for speeches he makes to wall street...there is nothing wrong with that?
We wouldn't have the right to be angry?
We wouldn't be using logic in assuming the overpaid speeches are returning the favor for looking the other way?

(42,862 posts)As I said, it wasn't exactly an over-the-fence home-run ... but the sour and indignant reactions to bunted jokes often turn them into doubles or triples.
You guys are SO sensitive.

(8,541 posts)Let's not forget his comments on how taking corporate money changed.
He also wanted to rub it in to the RW that a strong black woman will be on some form of paper currency in the near future.
I don't have a problem with it.

(24,979 posts)The only way to think that was against Sanders is to be pre-programmed to interpret everything without exception as against Sanders.

(11,573 posts)probably not.
If you think the furor over them is just a lot of ginned up, manifactured hysteria by a desperate losing candidate and his disciples, then yeah. It's funny.

The swipes at Republicans were cutting and loved those.

that's what politicians do.

(1,213 posts)Is that he wanted to make the bank speech circuit after his presidency.
I guess with everything as messed up as it is in this country, because of this type of corruption...it's just not very funny to me.

He also said Malia was planning on voting Bernie but they would not let that happen, as if he is really the type of person that would do such a thing.

(6,409 posts)Some thought it was a shot at Sanders for putting too much emphasis on Clinton's connections. Some thought it was a shot at Clinton for taking big money from special interests. Some just didn't know how to react. Kinda awkward.

(9,841 posts)I guess it was awkward for them because they all play the same game.

(34,165 posts)I'm a Bernie supporter and I thought the joke was a slam on HRC. I thought it was funny.
But I do hope he doesn't go for the easy money of Goldman Sachs. I hope he finds a different way.
Fortunately we don;'t have to worry about him collecting big fees from banks and foreign governments as a "honest graft" for his wife's political future because Michelle doesn't seem all that interested.
