Easy money, maybe. Friendship with the Waltons also, I've read.

and given that William Clinton was running for everything in that state, it made perfect sense for HRC to cultivate the Walton money and support.

That might cut into the Walton wealth. They are only worth more than the bottom 43% of Americans after all.

She and Bill were both on the make for money and power, and didn't much care who helped push them forward

on their Board for her in 1986. By 1991 she was paid $64,500 for that year alone, and given the use of a Walmart private jet for Bill to fly and campaign on, as well as nice donations for his campaigns. She also served on two other company boards. When she left Walmart, her position was not replaced.

During this period, Walmart was aggressively anti-Union and the Governor did nothing to change this. After he became President, he signed trade agreements that made it cheaper to manufacture and import inexpensive Chinese imports, which very much has benefit the Walmart bottom line.

The Governor's wife was an attorney, and the Governor of Arkansas was very low paid. She was a very good investment for them and the "pay to play" was well begun.

Next week, Hillary and the "profitable prison connection" -- yep, another happy success story for rich people/not so much for America.

from a President, and they found just their man...and his wife. It would later be seen, by any standard, as fortuitous to the company.

But after top surrogates asked Obama to help retire Clinton's campaign debt, amounting to more than $22 million, he asked many of his campaign bundlers to chip in to help his former rival.

Lots of them are employed because of Walmart.

http://www.law.harvard.edu/programs/lwp/NLC_childlabor.html
According to a National Labor Committee 2006 report, an estimated 200 children, some 11 years old or even younger, are sewing clothing for Hanes, Wal-Mart, J.C. Penney, and Puma at the Harvest Rich factory in Bangladesh.

The children report being routinely slapped and beaten, sometimes falling down from exhaustion, forced to work 12 to 14 hours a day, even some all-night, 19-to-20-hour shifts, often seven days a week, for wages as low as 6 ½ cents an hour. The wages are so wretchedly low that many of the child workers get up at 5:00 a.m. each morning to brush their teeth using just their finger and ashes from the fire, since they cannot afford a toothbrush or toothpaste.

The workers say that if they could earn just 36 cents an hour, they could climb out of misery and into poverty, where they could live with a modicum of decency.
