"BURLINGTON, Vt. U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, on Monday criticized a Hillary Clinton campaign fundraising scheme that state party leaders told Politico has been used as a self-serving money-laundering conduit.
Despite Clintons pledges to rebuild state parties, Politico found that less than 1 percent of the $61 million raised by the Victory Fund has stayed in the state parties coffers.
Secretary Clinton is looting funds meant for the state parties to skirt fundraising limits on her presidential campaign, Weaver said. We think the Clinton campaign should let the state parties keep their fair share of the cash.
Sanders and Clintons primary campaigns both raised about $26 million in April, but Politico documented how the Hillary Victory Fund, a supposedly joint fundraising committee, has been exploited to inflate her presidential primary campaign.
Secretary Clinton has exploited the rules in ways that let her high-dollar donors like Alice Walton of Wal-Mart fame and the actor George Clooney and his super-rich Hollywood friends skirt legal limits on campaign contributions, Weaver added. If Secretary Clinton cant raise the funds needed to run in a competitive primary without resorting to laundering, how will she compete against Donald Trump in a general election?

Act now!! Offer is limited!!
The Democratic front-runner says she's raising big checks to help state committees, but they've gotten to keep only 1 percent of the $60 million raised.

(8,541 posts)But to your point.
This move was only done to help Hillary and was just sold as helping down ticket dems. Of course the states would get some of the funds as it would be revealed as a complete farce. I'm will to wait and see what the actual split between Hillary and the party dems before I make final judgment.

(8,541 posts)Bernie has worked within the superdelegate system from the beginning. That's why he hired one of his advisors. That doesn't mean you can't point out the flaws in the system.

George Clooney said this weekend that presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders was "absolutely right" to protest the amount of money involved in political fundraisers such as the one Clooney co-hosted Friday night in support of candidate Hillary Clinton or the one he will co-host Saturday night, with wife Amal, at his home.
In a pre-taped interview for Meet the Press, Clooney was asked by host host Chuck Todd about the Friday fundraiser, in San Francisco, which reportedly cost $353,400 (in donations or raised funds) to sit at the head table, alongside with Clinton and the Clooneys.
"Do you look at it yourself and think, 'That's an obscene amount of money?' " Todd asked Clooney.
"Yes. I think it's an obscene amount of money," Clooney said. "I think that, you know, we had some protesters last night when we pulled up in San Francisco and they're right to protest. They're absolutely right. It is an obscene amount of money."

(13,889 posts)And given that George Clooney expressed some sympathy with Sanders' views on access to political candidates, Jeff Weaver's comments are even more misplaced.

(13,889 posts)I've worked in the film industry for over a decade and don't grudge my more successful peers their success - which they have almost invariably worked very hard for. Nor do I think much of class-baiting in general so I don't do it. They've really done a number on you, haven't they? It apparently hasn't occurred to you that they (meaning the people who write press releases for Team Sanders) could simply not reach for that argument in the first place.

(58,364 posts)we do find objection to are the super wealthy using their vast quantities of lucre as mega-phones to drown the voice of the people.
This event is just one small example of that process.
Perhaps you haven't been paying attention but the middle class, poor and most vulnerable have been "class baited" for over thirty years here in the U.S.

(13,889 posts)That's the entire point of the email - generate social anxiety about not being a member of the in-group in the reader, while implicitly offering to alleviate that anxiety for the low, low price of $27.
By the way, when you start using your opponent's phrases to make your own arguments it's a sign that you're reacting reflexively rather than thinking. I didn't set out to push your buttons specifically but I see that I've been doing it out of habit. Sorry.

(1,901 posts)What a positive campaign being run by a man of integrity, from the RW smears, the personal attacks and projection of his own underhanded behavior, Bernie just keeps proving what frauds he and Jane are.
When shall they be indicted for the actual laws they broke? FEC violations, illegal use of campaign funds, funneling money to his wife and family and the lies Jane told on loan forms that destroyed her employer and defrauded the Catholic church of millions!
Also, this was posted earlier and a clearly biased jury hid it, shall this OP be hidden to, or will we be allowed to see just how low Bernie and his staff are willing to go, in their desperation?
