Pros and Cons to a politician of being HRC's Running Mate? Did she ever pick one in 2008?

It seems to me that in 2008, HRC never picked a running mate. This may have been because nobody wanted to be her running mate. Or maybe not.

What are the pros and cons of being somebody like HRCs VP pick? Have potential VP picks expressed any opinions on how excited or not excited they were about the prospect?

What Cruz did this year is atypical. No one does or should do that.
