Sanders: We'll Try to Win With Super Delegates
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/what-is-sanders-thinking
For the same reason (Super Delegates) wouldn't try to help Clinton overturn the clear verdict of the primary process in 2008, they certainly aren't going to help Sanders overcome it in 2016. Add to that that most do genuinely support Clinton over Sanders. But even though it's not going to happen, how exactly does Sanders, with a straight face, say that his strategy is to have the reviled 'establishment' step in and give him the nomination by overruling the actual voters?

(15,646 posts)Too many caucuses and blatant shenanigans to make that case stick man. Not to mention that the primaries aren't over How many times are Berners going to have to endure this same old lame refrain here at DU?
It's tiresome.

(3,473 posts)Even if all the "shenanigans" happened (and they haven't) and if they only happened to BS voters (and they didn't) ... BS still wouldn't close that 3+ million person gap.
KPN
(15,646 posts)ill-informed. Add the half million lost to shenanigans and her cast of characer actors, the million or so votes more than Hillary that weren't cast in the caucuses, and all the votes that couldn't happen due to closed primaries, and Bernie's got her in a blow out.
For people who claim to be realistic, you aren't very.

(3,473 posts)And then you, you've got every excuse in the book why Secretary Clinton's 3+ million more votes are invalid, bogus, etc. And how BS is really the one that's ahead, if the rules had just been different. I've called the waaaaambulance for you.
mythology
(9,527 posts)Like any "good" conspiracy theory, it can't be disproven (which is different from saying that your theory is correct) because it relies on some claim that can't be proven that untold millions of Sanders voters couldn't vote.
I'm sorry if planning ahead and registering to vote is somehow too difficult for the average Sanders supporter. I was pretty sure it was really easy last time I did so, but maybe I'm some sort of voting savant. Caucuses are inherently undemocratic and violate the principle of a secret ballot.

(9,385 posts)Sanders is entitled to use the existing system any way he wants and can. That has nothing to do with the opinion that it should be changed.
By the way, supers weren't supposed to announce their choice until after all the Primary voting was done. Announcing nearly all of them for Hillary at the very beginning radically skewed the whole election, as it was intended to do. It was done to seem as a "fact" to voters that Bernie couldn't win, from the first vote. So don't even go there.
HRC's side talking about stealing anything is very amusing.

That would be interesting if it was true. But I'm betting its not true.

(9,527 posts)One, there is nothing that says they are supposed to wait to announce their choice. Go ahead, find a cite for your claim.
Two, Clinton had a substantial lead among super delegates at the start of 2008, but lost them to Obama when it was clear that Obama was going to win the primaries. It clearly didn't stop Obama from winning the primaries, but then again the Obama campaign managed to turn rallies into votes and the Sanders campaign didn't. It's not the super delegates' fault that the Sanders campaign forgot to plan for the basics.
Next time please have a vague grasp of the major facts before you tell somebody to "don't even go there." It will be less embarrassing for you.

He's a smart politician, dedicated to democracy and the welfare of people, not to a party. He knew he had little chance of winning the nomination and is probably surprised at how well he's done in opening the eyes of so many people already fed up with corruption in politics.
He has been the right man at the right time to tap into the aspirations of ordinary people and the revolution will continue.

Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)Pledged delegates then he will contest the convention. Currently Sanders needs big landslide wins to even get half of the pledge delegate count. I am thinking Hillary will have the required delegate count with pledged delegates. This would also mean she would have 719 more delegates than Sanders, now this would democratic huh. He wants oligarchy and have his supporters in charge
