Meet Hillary Clinton's "Greatest Influence" on Military Issues, a Fox News Pundit Who Makes Money From War

A profile of Hillary Clinton in the latest issue of the New York Times Magazine makes the case, convincingly, that the Democratic frontrunner is the most hawkish candidate in the race, from her upbringing as the daughter of a Navy training officer to her disagreements, as secretary of state, with President Obama over use of force. The piece outlines her relationships with several powerful current and former members of the military, and notes that the “single greatest influence” on her thinking about the military is a retired George W. Bush-era four-star general named Jack Keane.

How Hillary Clinton Became a Hawk

Throughout her career she has displayed instincts on foreign policy that are more aggressive than…

Fox News viewers may recognize Keane as one of the network’s frequently consulted military analysts, a role he has used to call withdrawal from Iraq a “disaster,” to argue against closing Guantanamo Bay, and to call a 2014 Pentagon report on climate change evidence of a “misguided priority” in the Obama administration.

While campaigning for president, Clinton has called out Bernie Sanders for his criticisms of President Obama, despite her own frequent disagreements with the president on foreign policy issues. She has positioned herself as the candidate who would carry on the president’s legacy if elected. As the Times Magazine profile notes, she has said in national security speeches that her plans for dealing with threats in the Middle East represent an “intensification and acceleration” of the president’s, not a clean break from them.

But Keane, who has informally advised Clinton on military affairs for 15 years, dispenses tough-guy criticisms of the president regularly....

He's a smart guy, and he has to know of her close relationship with this Fox News asshole.

I can understand that he can't just come out and trash her, but he could send a few subtle signals that he doesn't appreciate her closeness with some of his loudest detractors. She makes him look like a fool and he just sits there.

Perhaps he has been promised a lucrative position with the Foundation if he plays ball.

candidate Obama and President Obama when it came to making up his cabinet.

His demeanor also changed. I think he has been an amazing President, but he has had to do so much with his hands cuffed -- and I wonder how much of that is because of the previous occupants, who still influence more than they should.

Why is it "ok" for HRC to be aligned with people like Keane and Kissinger on foreign policy and military intervention, calling herself a Democrat, when these people and their positions, are not representative of the positions of Democrats?

Do you support Kissinger and Keane as advisors to your chosen candidate for president?

What is "informally advising"? Did they bump into each other at a cocktail party?

That's as factual as saying "it has been reported", or "allegedly", or "rumor is", etc.

By her own admission she has Kissinger as a friend and advisor. By her own admission, Keane is a military advisor.

Why is everything that does not agree with her a "vast right-wing conspiracy"?
I will be the first to agree she does get the short end of the stick sometimes
Sorry, but not every time. Sometimes, she is wrong.

Allow me this one question George, what will you hold her to task on if elected to office? Where would you draw the line that her actions would be a "compromise" you cannot live with?

An enthusiastic embrace of "American exceptionalism" is exactly what drives the neo-cons. It's not just about energy. It's not about "exceptionalism" in terms of a successful, healthy, well educated populace. It's about hawkish machismo and world domination. Hillary's record and rehetoric reflect that she is 100% on board with the neocon PNAC agenda.
