Why does the GOP have a presumptive nominee before us? Bernie; DROP OUT!!

Bernie, you're helping elect Donald J. Trump POTUS, giving him talking points, sowing dissent and discontent among Democrats. You'll be partly responsible for deporting 12 million hard working immigrants who just did what anyone would do; you might appoint Cruz to the SCOTUS and ban abortion and roll back scientific progress, etc. You're behind in delegates to the point where while you're math eliminated AND behind in the national popular vote by 12%+.

Bernie Sanders; DROP OUT AND ENDORSE HILLARY.

And progressives who have a problem voting for Hillary: face it. HILLARY IS THE MOST PROGRESSIVE OF ANYONE WE'RE GONNA GET TO ELECT.

...and if your candidate is so fragile to be threatened by someone so far behind her, then maybe you should be rethinking your support. Bernie will bear no responsibility for the DNC propping up Hillary. Bernie will bear no responsibility for whatever Trump may do should he (*shudder*) actually make it to the White House.

As for you last statement, we had a choice this time around. A real choice between someone who has always been there and someone who needs to be dragged kicking and screaming. I'm sorry that "the most progressive" isn't "actually progressive" and that people don't like it.

Has Kasich actually suspended his campaign and I missed it? If not then there are now 2 republicant candidates just like there are 2 Dem candidates.

Bernie can stay in until he decides, it is good for the party to be pushed a bit. I doubt even Hillary wants anyone in the D party taking direction from Prebus and his bunch.

No, he should stay in. No question.

Plus, every day he's in is another day he's likely to push our "presumptive nominee" to take actual positions of leadership on policies supported by a majority of Americans, like supporing marijuana legalization.

The fact that she cannot seem to swamp Bernie, a 74 year old jewish socialist from a tiny liberal state, does not instill confidence.

Wed May 4, 2016, 10:02 AM
May 2016

If, as seems probable, the race will be Clinton versus Trump, then I assure you that Trump will have a barrage of anti-Clinton talking points even if Bernie drops out tomorrow. In fact, Trump would have such a barrage even if neither Bernie nor anyone else had been so uncouth as to run against The Anointed One.

Bernie is calling for higher taxes on the rich, for raising the minimum wage, for establishing single-payer health care, etc. Just exactly which of those talking points will Trump be adopting? I admit that the guy is unpredictable, but he's not that unpredictable.

The only possible exception I can see is trade. Bernie has denounced the TPP. Clinton is vulnerable there because she was for it before she was against it, and her flip-flop is unconvincing. But I don't think you can blame her vulnerability on Bernie. Her record on the issue is sitting right there on the internet, and all Trump needs is a capable oppo researcher with a search engine (maybe not Google, maybe something real classy). Even if Bernie were to drop out tomorrow -- and I certainly hope he doesn't, because I haven't gotten to vote yet -- Trump's general election campaign will include hitting Hillary over trade agreements.
