Nominate Hillary or Nominate Bernie: No Right Or Wrong Answer
The problem with issues like this is there is no obvious "correct" answer. Everyone is bringing all of this justification from both sides, and the simple truth is that both sides have a point.
And the problem is that we don't know what will happen because we cannot predict the future.
We don't know for example how much Hillary will demoralize the independent voters and suppress turnout.
We don't know for sure that Bernie won't demoralize Hillary voters being jammed in by party insiders
Either way we risk suppressing Democratic turnout.
As a Bernie supporter, I want everyone on this forum to know that I'm not thrilled about the idea of Bernie somehow parlaying to the nomination by playing the super delegates. The idea that he would be chosen over Hillary, ignoring that she has a majority of the state-level democratic voting process would be very ironic to say the least.
The only way that this would be acceptable is if the state-wide pledged delegate count is close enough that the differences could be explained by the independent voters' inability to vote in the democratic primary. In that case, one could argue that the closed primary system is undemocratic, that is to say the table was slanted towards Hillary.
We also cannot predict how effective Bernie will really be inside that meat-grinder. Bernie may simply be too reasonable and fair. It is possible that his personality could be a liability and that Hillary with a more cut-throat approach (see House of Cards) would be more effective.
My point is that no-one knows. So there is not obvious right or wrong answer here. But there will be consequences either way.
