(23,156 posts)as qualified for the job she's applying for.
All we ever get is rationalizations about voting for the first woman as President, and a bullshit claim about her "experience". Yeah, she was a Senator for a term and a bit more, voted for the Iraq War when even the most casual observer could tell that the claims for war were total crap. She's happy with fracking, is for the TPP. Or against it? Who can keep track.
If she's elected President this time around she'll be so awful it will be another fifty years before one can credibly run again. Too bad, because there are some other women out there who'd be vastly better.

(1,820 posts)I have been told to step aside once or twice. That does not make HRC the candidate that should be our first woman President. Maybe Dr. Jill Stein would be a great first woman President...who can say.
I disagree that other women will be judged by HRC leads, should she be elected to lead.
I will be totally sad and hopeless though.

(130,749 posts)Haven't wanted to engage you on this, and this will likely be my last, but the fact that hrc's a woman is NO reason to support her; too many negatives there. (think maggie thatcher.)

(85,977 posts)...and I firmly believe we are going to see a huge backlash against the misogyny that's inherent in our political system, a great deal of which is being directed at Hillary Clinton.
Some may well see that as undue or unfair, but no amount of bullying, badgering, or shaming (as so many folks here seem to believe is an effective strategy) is going to change that.
One of the things that black DUers, for example, tried to impart to the Sanders campaign and supporters was the sensitivity of the race issue and the often anti-intellectual/anti-substantive judgements that would be made in response to positions and statements. That's held true to the extent that one campaign has alienated a sizable number of minority voters, and the other has reaped the benefits of that exodus.
Ignoring the fact that many people make judgements on surface qualities of candidates doesn't make that any less of a reality. You can lecture folks from here until the election on what criteria they should be using to choose a candidate, but people will vote based on their own life experience and their own agenda.
Citing conservative women in comparison to Clinton may seem accurate to you, but I think it's absurd to compare Clinton to Thatcher. Virtually NONE of the people supporting her believe she's a conservative. That should factor into your judgement of their support for her.

(31,170 posts)It isn't the reason for my vote, but i'm certainly not mad at the fact that the best candidate is a woman.

(6,282 posts)I do not like Hillary on the issues. Pretty simple.
This tweet reads like bad satire.

(58,785 posts)This is an exciting time for women's rights. Way past time. All who believe in equality for everyone will be winners in that respect whether they want her for their president or not.
That's a great picture, Bigtree. Thanks.

and we got a great President because of it !
Really tired of the Clinton obsession with our genitals and skin colors. Talk about real issues if you want votes.
