2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI am sick and tired of the Hillary is more qualified BS
Bernie Sanders has 32 years of coming up the ladder of experience. Starting at the bottom and learning everything a good legislator needs to know on his way up to Senator. He is an accomplished negotiator and has done many accomplished works in Congress.
Hillary has 12 years period. She was the wife of a President big deal. SOS and Jr. Senator is NOT more experience than Bernie Sanders. I'm sick of the meme. As SOS she has accomplished lots of trouble for our Country. Libya, Iran, email server crap, sniper fire yep, and John Kerry is mopping her left overs up.
Rob Reiner is an ass.

(2,550 posts)You may discount FLOTUS, but I won't. She was there, in the house, helping to make the decisions. You also discount the years spent in Kentucky politicking with her husband.
When she was a Senator, the news cameras followed her.
When she was SOS, the news cameras followed her and she met with more world leaders and saw the world.
Senator Sanders may have been in the legislative arena longer, but he was relatively unknown (I knew of him) and did not hold any major Foreign Policy positions. The cameras did not follow Sanders, the party did not look to Sanders for his leadership, the country did not look to him for leadership.
There are different types of experience.
bkkyosemite
(5,792 posts)things done. What does following her with camera's have to do with anything.. She was Billy boy's wife. She does NOT have more experience than Bernie. She did nothing of good as SOS no matter who she met. Camera's lol

Hillary has the right kind of experience.

(38,465 posts)"executive level, experience" she's encountered. That can't be counted in a plus column.

(13,390 posts)She wasn't in congress voting on Bills her husband signed, she was just promoting them and it wasn't her fault that they have ruined people's lives, but she achieved great success when they passed as effective executives do.

(643 posts)Her "experience" has led to the following; support of fracking, support of regime change, vote for Iraq war, Syria no fly zone, accepting Wall Street money, support of trade agreements that send our jobs overseas, FBI investigation, opposition to Glass Steagall, opposition to healthcare for all, and opposition to free college.
Those are facts. And if you remove the Clinton name, would you not agree that those are actually issues you typically see on the GOP platform?

(5,792 posts)I'm sure she went home and talked to Bill about it. Got some tips...but it did not help her. She was not a good candidate for SOS. Had no experience to be in that position. Kerry is much better at it as a Sr. Senator. She should have never been picked. The deal was set when Obama won. Remember how mad Bill was...the plan was all messed up.

(25,453 posts)Bernie Sanders started at the bottom of a ladder and climbed for 32 years, he is accomplished and did accomplished works negotiating up the ladder of accomplished experience without falling off, while learning everything. Hillary had a 12 year period as the wife of a President and SOS and Senator. Big deal. I know when I have my period I'm really cranky. It is NOT more experience than Bernie's accomplishment ladder without periods. As SOS Hilary did many craps and troubles and John Kerry is mopping up her left-overs with Heinz ketchup.

(5,792 posts)judgement of the two. She is in bed with all those guys in the establishment...Wall Street, Banksters, corporate greedsters and lots of strange money deals. Bernie has been absolute in his stances for decades. No flip flopping no look in the camera with straight face pathological lying etc. Yes Bernie is the best candidate and is surely from experience and not the establishment that she is involved in. Her name got her where she is alright.

(10,476 posts)So who gets to decide who is the "best candidate" ? That's what we're holding primaries for, right?

(786 posts)reads like a Democrats great career. A strong career of working for the people. The "D" may not have been his official party but his policies worked for the democrats. When he went across the aisle to get bills passed it worked for the democrats. His career has worked very well for the democrats. If you knew him you would know this. He used his Independent Status very wisely. It allowed him to be able to bring 2 sides together in negotiation and to be the almighty important vote to seek for important bills to pass, which allowed him negotiation room for his bills or something he wanted to get tacked on.
He also did not have to be sucked into the "establishment". He was able to maintain his integrity by not having to put up with a lot of the garbage of party politics.

(12,504 posts)I adore the contrast you impart of all of his years in public office (as if they were so visible), VS. all of his years of incognito, anonymous efforts in public office.
In those early days (I don't think you were even here on DU) the mantra was, "just wait 'til they get to know him. Most don't even know who Bernie is yet" . So much wrong with is 32 years in office.
Look at the contrast of how well Warren (remembering she spend more than 1/2 of her political life as a Republican) is known, vs who in the fuck knew Bernie whe he first jumped in the race. His do nothing, laying sideways in the public trough tenure preceded him for good reason.
