Sound familiar?

From the Urban Dictionary:

Emo Progressive

Note: This term was seen as divisive and has been superseded by Puritopian.

Emo Progressive (or "emoprog&quot is a self-described liberal or progressive, often with libertarian leanings, whose political orientation is to be angry, dissatisfied and unhappy with the state of the nation at any given time, because in their view, liberal policies are not being implemented quickly or forcefully enough. They have particular contempt for Democratic presidents.

Emoprogs are ideological purists who disdain compromise and incremental change, which they see as "selling out" liberal ideas like full employment, an end to all wars, state secrets, and liberal social policy.

Emoprogs dislike Republicans but reserve their greatest disdain for Democratic presidents, whom they relentlessly attack for not meeting a set of ideological goal posts that are constantly adjusted to ensure that the president will be deemed a disappointment, "not progressive enough" or "just like a Republican" no matter what policy achievements are made.

Emoprogs routinely dismiss or ignore congress' role in making or impeding policy, believing presidents can simply "use the bully pulpit" and "fight" in order to overcome constitutional or legislative obstacles.

Emoprogs have a strong affinity for 3rd party politics as a way to punish Democratic presidents. ...

It's unbelievable that a single person writes an Urban Dictionary definition, that almost all get approved as long as it doesn't name someone, and it is given some type of Poli-Sci credence to it on a political website. That's the travesty.

The vetting of information has hit zero, where anyone's shite becomes posted as some credible source.

who has been PPR'd from DU so many times.

If you go to the link the OP offers and search that site for their top definition of 'Hilary Clinton' what you get is very, very nasty and right wing, calls her 'Hitlery' and I'm not sure what the OP is endorsing such a site on DU as a legitimate site

... in the view of many, people like this actually exist.

Surely you are aware that there are people who...:

... are angry, dissatisfied and unhappy with the state of the nation at any given time, because in their view, liberal policies are not being implemented quickly or forcefully enough.

...are ideological purists who disdain compromise and incremental change, which they see as "selling out" liberal ideas like full employment, an end to all wars

...reserve their greatest disdain for Democratic Presidents, whom they relentlessly attack for not meeting a set of ideological goal posts

...have a strong affinity for 3rd party politics as a way to punish Democratic presidents

I would personally add:

....identify anyone whose view are more moderate than their own as "third wayers", "conservatives", "Republicans" or (the list gets less acceptable in a public discussion)

Just because those who who hold such people in contempt made up a "pejorative" name for them doesn't mean that such people don't exist. In fact I have recently become aware of individuals who fit this definition exactly.

May 2016

Okay, many posters are attacking the source; apparently because they find it difficult to attack the concept itself. So someone posted on the Urban Dictionary a term that has been circulating in the lexicon of the street for people who fit the definition given. There is no denying that people fitting this definition exist, most of us have encounter these types of folks in our personal experience. Some here ascribe to the notion that people fitting this definition frequent DU, not that there is anything wrong with that. People in the general population fitting that description may even say to themselves, "Hey, I think they are talking about me".

Forget about the term; are we progressives so insensitive to freedom of expression that we are afraid to even admit publicly that people fitting description actually exist and some may even be posting on DU?
