Your #BernieBros going after (disabled) women...

People who wanted to get into the gym to see Hillary at the Town Hall had to pass by this angry mob of Bernie Supporters. Some chanting over and over *Fu**you! Parents with kids had to pass through this mob. Shame on them. Anyone who defends this vile behavior is wrong!! Sanders should put out a call for this to STOP!. This is no better than a Trump rally!

154. #1- he does not tell supporters or protestors what to do.
Sat May 7, 2016, 07:33 PM
May 2016

This is not coming from the campaign. These people are not bused in. They are not told what to do.

#2- he does not like protestors inside the meetings; especially campaign rallies. Everyone, even Trump, has the right to hold public meetings without being inundated by interruption.

#3- yes, protestors outside of a meeting have every right by the constitution to protest. It is their right to do so. If protestors had become violent, wouldn't the police have stepped in and massive arrests also placed into the news along with these Twitter pics.

Just face it, if she becomes President, everywhere she goes, she will face protestors. Some will even go inside to disrupt. Look at how Wisconsin demonstrated when their Gov and republican controlled houses started stripping worker rights. And because the right pretty much hates her and progressives will be trying to hold her feet to flame over issues, she's going to see much, much, much more of this sort of 1st amendment action. She may have to be like Bush and implement 1st amendment zones, have everything pre-screened to the hilt, and barely tread outside of insider business or with "regular folks". Sort of as she does now, but on steroids.

From what I have seen of the actual complaints listed of the groups protesting that day, they had legitimate concerns to have heard. Showing up outside a Clinton event is a manner in which the media would cover these items.

One thing I have noticed is the picture of the gentleman, white dude, with the Liar, Liar, Liar sign. He seems overtly aggressive and seems to be shouting into the faces of passing people. Who knows what he's about; he could be a provocateur agent to sway people's opinions. He could be a Trump supprorter. Or he could just be an asshole. There are plenty I run across everyday.

Anyway, it is about to be the MOST contentious 4 years as of date since 2000 and our stollen elections. A populist, 99% pushback is occurring. The establishment is not safe on either side. I'm actually afraid that situations may become more violent. And we have way too many guns in America. See, this year we've had two strong anti-establishment candidates. I'm sure the Republicans wish they could go backwards so they could institute elite delegates into the system, but they didn't. They wanted their establishment guy by the end of March, and Trump took that cake and swallowed it whole with their majority win; take the delegates rules. The Democratic establishment has been able to manipulate the process; which is probably why Elizabeth Warren did not run, the deck was pre-stacked. Bernie was the "idea" person to excite the party for "the next time". No one inside of the political/ media bubble could have predicted just how well Bernie would do, or the amount of money he could raise without super Pacs or big money donors.

And already we are seeing her pivot to the right. She's courting Bush donors and claiming she's more conservative than Donald Trump. She will absolutely see amazing amounts of protest during her Presidency. And if contentions continue to run this high, and Sander's can't even get a fair shake at helping to set the party platform, then I doubt she's going to get all those millennials to come in, stand in 5 hr lines, and vote for her. Already in FL, the news outlets that cover local politics are explaining how Trump will win in FL over Clinton. And the only Corp-Dem we have in FL, Nelson, is saying it will be extremely hard for her to overcome Trump and the Republican machine and the voting machines that are run by the Republican Party.

BTW, I'm already getting nasty Democratic Party e-mails stating that if the voters choose to pick Grayson over their corporate establishment pick, it will be a loss for the Dems in November... So, if Grayson is the primary pick, she better hope his coat tails are popular enough to help each other out and that she remain "progressive" as her "life's work" has shown. (I know -lol- isn't that a joke). But the environment is a real issue in FL. Miami is already seeing the effects of the ocean rising. One horrific hurricane, and the state could go bankrupt with the claim damage crippling Citizens and the flood insurance program. Plus there is still much residue damage from the BP blow out from 2010. That is still a huge environmental problem most don't want to talk about or pretend is "all fixed" when it's not even close.

In addition, notice no "free speech zone" set up for demonstrators. If they escalate, it wouldn't surprise me if Clinton security puts UP rails -- aka using protest pens. The fact she's not doing so yet is encouraging.

But hopefully your purpose in asking for names is to ask them to quit it, not to try to suggest there are zero people claiming to support Bernie who aren't behaving as civilly as one might wish.

In exchange, if you want, feel free to PM me names of other Hillary people who are behaving badly, particularly new ones, and I will try to mentor them on what civility used to be here.

I admit that I'm familiar with this user, mainly because they self-revealed in responses to accusations of shilling -- and a long-time member dug up unflattering news articles about him, though the other person in the legal dispute that made the news sounds far crazier than our poster. (Not naming names, if that LT, normally good poster sees this and wants to give a mea culpa for doing MIRT's job publicly rather than referring someone to MIRT who they suspect of shilling, he can, or star members can search posts and probably find it).

My real life name is forever tied to my DU identity as a result of a similar self-reveal in 2008 in response to someone accusing me of working for the RNC. Fortunately I have had the good luck, despite having a name shared with, to my knowledge, only one other person in the US, to not have unflattering news stories about me written for someone to stalk me and post publicly.

And I have counseled him on sig lines, fwiw. I can't see them on mobile, and mine could be considered commentary on this election but has been part of my signature since 2008 (it's a quote from Judy Harrow's "Exegesis of the Wiccan Rede", regarding the "challenge to action" inherent in the Rede.) I rarely use graphics, unless it's my favorite animated kitteh or "Vote Democratic -- The Ass You Save May Be Your Own).

You're one of the folks with an anti-hillary sig file that another omnipresent Bernie supporter says she never sees. Perhaps she has you on ignore?

And yes, there are also a number of Bernie supporters with transparency pages and I'm not going to bother getting them because bothering to get the signature files was also a waste of time. If people want to believe a lie badly enough, no amount of research I do is going to make them see the truth.

If there are fewer transparency pages, it certainly makes sense. It is far more difficult to alert on Bernie supporters than it is Hillary supporters since the will likely make up 80% of any jury called. A jury system that is based entirely on fervor for one candidate or another and has next-to-nothing to do with the actual content of what is being alerted is not really a jury system at all. But keeping shilling for it if that makes you happy. Just please don't expect me to join in the love.

74. Successful protest involves good PR -- either from a good idea or getting suppressed
Sat May 7, 2016, 12:29 PM
May 2016

If your protest went off beautifully, you might get some coverage.

But that cold morning of April 7, 2003, as I drove in from my overnight job in a Long Island call center to the City, left the car with my husband, and hopped on the train to get to the planned protest (was expected to be under 100 people, no bullhorns, on the opposite side of the street from the company being protested for their war ties, so no permit needed), I wasn't expecting to participate in something that would make news even years later.

A small segment of that group planned to engage in "nonviolent direct action" -- a better word than "civil disobedience" to describe breaking the law not because the law goes against your conscience, but to prove a point -- by sitting in front of the building on its side of the street and linking arms -- about 7-10 people, all previously had jail solidarity training and expected to get arrested. Still, this wasn't expected to be major.

It was chaotic when I finally arrived near the planned protest (traffic on the Expressway was slow) but far fewer people than I anticipated, though I saw a "green hat" and got the story from him. I had missed an illegal mass arrest. Videos taken by legal observers showed police blocking routes for the non-direct action crowd to disperse, then giving an order and arresting people who couldn't obey.

I spent the rest of that day running off NLG post-arrest pamphlets and standing outside 1PP with a group of Guild folks, a few people's personal lawyers, and some volunteers with cigarettes and coffee for those who needed them along with the "You're Free -- But You're Not Done With The System Yet" as people were released. We had to negotiate NOT standing in a "protest pen" just for that even though we weren't chanting or anything -- I think they were trying to prevent released protesters from getting out and starting another immediate pop-up protest.

The city ended up paying over $2 million for their illegal activities that day, but we were overshadowed by the horrifyingly violent suppression of protest in Oakland that same day. Remember the picture of the girl with the ginormous knot on her jaw?

The people organizing protests of Hillary's events need to get better control over their people, or any of the proposed Convention protests are going to end in a lot of false arrests and injured protesters.

DNC and RNC security rarely plays. If any coordinated march is planned, the Philadelphia branch of the National Lawyers Guild needs to be contacted for advice and legal observers.

... which is why if you are involved in a protest it's a good idea to watch out for people who are encouraging others to break laws, or for "walk up" protesters who start agitating others...

But the reason those tactics are successful is because even good people can get caught up in a mob mentality. Whether the people taped being jerks were plants, agitated by plants, or just agitated and caught up in the mob isn't something I can tell from the videos available.

That kind of behavior is nonexistent at Bernie rallies.

Hillary has declared the primary over and has been sparring with Trump so it is not a shock to find Trumpites protesting her.

Trump supporters hate Hillary, and their candidate openly encourages violence and it seems to occur at every one of his rallies. Hell, Trump's campaign manager was accused of violence toward a right wing journalist.

The faux outrage from the Clinton camp has reached hair-on-fire levels.

What do they think a protest is...a High Tea?

And oh no! Someone said the F word! At a protest.

Yes, there are kids at rallies. No one is targeting them. I've been to rallies and political events where there was also a contingent of protesters. I wasn't fool enough to think that they were targeting me or my kids. They're protesting. This is America. It's what we do.

I have a feeling that this exercise in faux outrage will disappear as quickly as it appeared. I don't know what they think these talking points will accomplish. Will Sanders supporters suddenly defect to Clinton?

It's just bizarre.
