At some point, and before long, we will have

a Democratic nominee in place. I'm pretty sure which current candidate it will be. There are still a few states left to hold primaries, but the picture is pretty clear. As always, our nominee won't be the choice of some Democrats, but will be the choice of a majority of those voting in primaries and caucuses.

Our nominee will come to the Democratic convention with a majority of pledged delegates and will get the superdelegates' votes. Then, we can move on to the general election campaign process. In the meantime, in states across the country, other primaries and processes will select nominees for a wide range of legislative offices, both state and federal.

The presidential nomination process is almost over, and the result is becoming more and more clear each week.

I'm in a state that has already held its primary event, so I've been focusing on those legislative offices. Democrats have a real chance here of flipping a couple of House seats. We need more Democrats in the House. In Minnesota, too, the Republicans got control of our state House in 2014. We need to get that body back in Democratic control. It's crucial.

I'm ready to support the Democratic nominee for President, but my focus is on all those legislative seats. If your state has also completed its presidential primary events, I encourage you to take a close look at what's going on in the legislative area. In many ways, that's even more important.

There is much more to the election in November than just electing a President. Much more.
