2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumYou know what is vile and obscene? The disgusting endorsement from neo-con Max Boot.
I am waiting for Hillary to repudiate it as she did when Koch kinda-sorta gave his support for her campaign.

(149,525 posts)I found his remarks on the death of the Republican Party very illuminating. We don't often get the view from the inside, esp. from him.

(135,425 posts)This guy's comments are like saying an air sandwich is preferable to a shit sandwich, but it's not an "endorsement." To try to stretch it to that point is a bridge too far.
I can't help but NOTICE--like everyone else reading this thread should, too--that you were excessive in your cutting and pasting--otherwise, you would have included this paragraph, that immediately follows the one you presented here, which REPUDIATES YOUR THESIS:
But I am not prepared to join the party that she leads, because so much of it appears to be well to her left. Grass-roots Democrats thrilled this year to Bernie Sanders, a self-professed socialist who is almost as extreme in his own way as Trump is. I don't feel the Bern and I can't make common cause with those who do. Nor do I support Obama and his lead from behind foreign policy, which has created an opening for predators like Russia, Iran and Islamic State dangers that would only grow under a Trump presidency.
And it's not like "Max Boot" is a household name, either--so don't even try to pretend that obscure asshole counts outside the "DU-angst-over-minutiae" real world. He's not anyone I've heard of until you dragged him and his pouty, whiny "Pox on Both Their Houses" essay in here.
So sorry, a "That one sucks less" commentary from an unknown whiner is not an endorsement, much as you try to make people believe it is.
It's not Clinton's duty to "repudiate" the comments of every minor blowhard in the universe. Why she is held to that higher standard is beyond me.
I didn't see Sanders holding a press conference to "repudiate" the endorsements of the many trolls that litter twitter and elsewhere, like these guys:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/09/23/on-twitter-bernie-sanderss-supporters-are-becoming-one-of-his-biggest-problems/

Never once does he tell them to stop that kind of conduct.
So, whatever.

(4,407 posts)Trump is also crack to the republican base, and he's making the covert racism/sexism very overt. That is what doing damage to the R party. His main purpose was to help Hillary, but it worked a whole lot better than expected (my guess), which is kind of cool. Unfortunately, Hillary is pretty much a republican, so it doesn't mean we are winning.
It's underhanded as all hell, but we should expect that from Hillary.

(4,775 posts)egged on by a phone call from Bill Clinton, no tin foil needed for this one, they couldn't have been much more obvious.

That's what 99.9999 percent of people on earth would say when asked if they knew who he was.
Though I do love the "Boogie Man of the Week" theme, on the whole.
