Hillary Clinton Coming to ELAC Amid Protest by Latino Students
Presidential candidate will also attend fundraisers for her campaign.
By City News Service
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to speak today at East Los Angeles College amid a planned protest by Latino students and community groups and to raise funds for her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton will discuss her plans to raise incomes for families, break down the barriers that hold Californians back, keep America safe and bring the country together, an aide said.

Members of Union del Barrio, MEXA of East Los Angeles College, LA Brown Berets and several other student and community-based organizations plan to march seven blocks in Monterrey Park from Belvedere Park to East Los Angeles College to protest what organizers call Clinton’s attacks on working-class communities of color and her 2002 vote as a senator in favor of the resolution authorizing military action against Iraq.

“This event is to let Hillary know that she is not welcomed in Los Angeles and to raise community awareness of what she really represents. We will let the community know that either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton would make terrible presidents,” said organizer Ron Gochez, referring to the real estate tycoon and television personality who is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

“This action is strictly to protest against Hillary Clinton and not in support of any party and/or candidates.”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will address students and teachers at East Los Angeles College amid protests by local activists.
Community groups in Los Angeles are holding demonstrations on Thursday to protest the policies of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who will deliver a speech to university students at the city’s East Los Angeles College, or ELAC.

The protest organizers, which includes representatives from several groups including Unión del Barrio - Los Angeles, MEXA de ELAC, the Los Angeles Brown Berets, Red Guards LA, Todo Poder al Pueblo Collective, and many others, warn that Clinton’s foreign and domestic policy would have negative impacts on working class inner-city and immigrant communities across the country.

"This event is to let Hillary know that she is not welcomed in Los Angeles and to raise community awareness of what she really represents,” the event organizers said in a press release via Facebook.

As part of the Thursday protests, organizers are hoping to spread awareness regarding Hillary Clinton’s support for controversial foreign policy decisions throughout the region of Central America and the Middle East during her tenure as the country’s secretary of state.

“This action is strictly to protest against Hillary Clinton and is not in support of any party and/or candidates,” the event page added.

2. Precisely. It's to counter the bullshit being flung at Bernie supporters by some Hill Trolls.

And that is wrong.

This is a community-based protest. Not a Sanders event.
