GOP operatives on the prowl for secret Clinton transcripts

GOP operatives on the prowl for secret Clinton transcripts

Republican operatives are scouring the country for transcripts, notes or secret recordings of Hillary Clinton's paid speeches to Goldman Sachs in hopes of finding damaging material for the general election.

Clinton has rebuffed calls from Bernie Sanders to release the transcripts of her three speeches to the Wall Street giant, which she delivered in 2013 to the tune of $225,000 per appearance. She has repeatedly said she will release the transcripts of her paid speeches when all the presidential candidates agree to do so.

Republican opposition researchers have taken matters into their own hands, aggressively seeking any information about the speeches, including from Goldman employees who were in the room.

Ian Prior, the communications director for the well-funded Republican group American Crossroads, said information about the Goldman Sachs speeches could prove cataclysmic for the Democratic Party.

1. And this surprises who?

Of course they will look. Since Hillary made such a big deal about keeping them secret, the assumption is she's hiding something damaging. What political opponent wouldn't go after them?

My guess is that once she's given the Democratic nomination she'll release them in some form. Most likelly, what's in them would only hurt her with the Democratic base, not repubs or most independents.

running the Clinton Shuffle/Prove It lack of accountability for increasingly amazing misdeeds.

So, guess it's about time to play Kill the Messenger, or failing that, she's forgetful, doesn't understand, made a mistake...in essence truly by those qualities, not qualified to be our President. Oh, forgot dishonest, too.l

Don't attack this messenger, I've long been aware and appreciative of her positive accomplishments, but they are starting to pale in comparison. Impeachment papers have already been drafted. Republicans are salivating, and it may save Trump's political hide, because he could dispense with her toute suite.

The only spoiler to this scurrilous story will be if somehow Bernie manages to emerge. Would they substitute in Biden? Lots of hysteria ... on both sides ... likely on its way.

speaking in private before them. If I were them, I'd be pissed.

It's not about Corporate Money...which the Republicans and pretty much the entire Establishment runs on. It's the Watergate-like cover-up. She shot herself in the foot with the Left Wing, and if she is denied the nomination/election, there's a lot of money to account for.

I personally think that revealing them would have been less eventful than playing hide and seek. Of course the Left knows what she said for the most part...what she's always said and done. Go directly to the donors...do not pass go. Like during the extension of the coronation when she had to leave to go get more money.

Now, she's extremely vulnerable. I'm going to guess her sources have pretty much dried up. No one throws money at a maybe candidate. They see the rallies and the enthusiasm and momentum for Bernie...supporters here notwithstanding.

At least she won't have to beg for money to cover her campaign debts. But it is likely to make a dent in their amazing fortune acquired over the past couple of decades. They might have to sell one of their mansions...poor dears.

He is most likely going to co-opt much of Bernie's economic message in his general campaign. He's running on a populist theme. He'll beat her up over any speeches where she told the bankers they were being unfairly demonized. And the press will pick it up and run with it for him.

The Bernie fans here seriously underestimate just how completely he has alienated women and persons of color.

I do think he has an insurmountable challenge ahead of him, with Hispanics as well. But I didn't think he'd get this far so....

Saw something once that said 15% of Bernie supporters were open to supporting Trump if Bernie didn't win. That's about a potential 5 - 7 % swing. That'd be kinda scary.

Hillary said she would release the transcripts when all the other candidates did. Well, the only other candidates now are Bernie and Trump. It seems neither Bernie nor Trump made paid speeches to Wall Street, so if Hillary is a woman of her word then it's time to release the transcripts, no?
