2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMystery: Emails From Hillary’s Top Geek Are M.I.A.
Bryan Pagliano set up and maintained Hillarys Clintons private email server. But somehow, theres no record that Pagliano ever sent Clinton an email while he worked for her at the State Department.
Those are the surprising, if preliminary, results from a lawsuit seeking information about State Department staffers linked to the former Secretary of States server, according to court documents filed Monday.
The absence of any email written or received by Pagliano, who worked for Clinton at the State Department and was the technology director of her 2008 presidential campaign, suggests an attempt to obscure his role in the controversy over Clintons private server, said a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, which filed the lawsuit in March.
Its hard to believe that an IT staffer who set up Hillary Clintons reckless email server never sent or received a single work-related email in the four years he worked at the State Department, Raj Shah, the deputy communications director for the RNC, told The Daily Beast.

(22,974 posts)Setting up a private server in her basement to conduct government business is poor judgment by any reasonable person's standards.

(626 posts)at least that is the kind of nonsensical bullshit I am reading here.
Hey, if you think there is ANY question that Hillary is ten thousand times better than Trump or any GOP, then you and I have nothing in common.

(22,974 posts)I have not seen those claims in this thread. But, since you mentioned it, the vote on the Iraq war was another glaring example of H. Clinton's poor judgment and/or lack of integrity. Most Democrats in Congress had the good sense and decency to vote against the unjustified war in Iraq - acknowledged as the greatest American foreign policy disaster of the past century.

Huma Abedin testified only around a week or so ago, so the press isn't "calling it" one way or the other yet.

(27,247 posts)going back to her Arkansas days, when she hobnobbed with the state's richest Republicans, defended corporations in court, and did next to nothing while sitting on Sam Walton's board of directors.
Actor
(626 posts)You may have a brain, but you're fooling yourself if you think you can actually differentiate her from the GOP, especially considering, among other things, that Henry Kissinger was her mentor at the State Department and that she has spent considerable time hobnobbing with the wealthiest Republicans and even going all lovey-dovey with the Bushes.
Back in the '80s at the University of Arkansas, my professors liked to say that Hillary's sitting on the Wal-Mart board was the "best of both worlds-- Hillary gets to rub shoulders with America's Richest Man, and Sam Walton has practically a direct connection to the governor".
And Sam Walton, along with his rich Republican buddies Don Tyson and "Mr. Arkansas Republican" himself, Jackson Stephens, helped to finance Bill's 1992 presidential campaign.

We deserve what happens then, and what will happen under the GOP will be horrible.
But we will deserve it.

Whatever happened or not, the FBI has it covered.
Time to look for another scandal, tabasco.
Babel_17
(5,400 posts)IANAL, or even all that up on the law, but IIRC there are different kinds. But, long story short, maybe the FBI had enough on him regarding the server to make him want to testify on that in exchange for what he did with the server, and his testimony regarding it, not being held against him.
If, hypothetically, he has guilty knowledge of regulations being violated regarding other parts of his employment, that could require more immunity, or more comprehensive immunity. Though I think things get very tricky once any immunity is given to someone and you later want to prosecute for anything connected to the crime that was testified about.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witness_immunity
In the United States, the prosecution may grant immunity in one of two forms. Transactional immunity, colloquially known as "blanket" or "total" immunity, completely protects the witness from future prosecution for crimes related to his or her testimony. Use and derivative use immunity prevents the prosecution only from using the witness's own testimony or any evidence derived from the testimony against the witness. However, should the prosecutor acquire evidence substantiating the supposed crimeindependently of the witness's testimonythe witness may then be prosecuted for the crime. While prosecutors at the state level may offer a witness either transactional or use and derivative use immunity, at the federal level, use and derivative use immunity is quite common.

It's never the crime that gets conspirators caught; it's always the coverup.
