And his tax returns.
Release the transcripts, Bernie!

(934 posts)if he stalls long enough. My guess that it's probably a problem with the Sanders family being wealthier than people thought.

(587 posts)now is creating a ridiculous rationale for how he can 'win' the nomination.
Let's face it - releasing tax returns has ALWAYS been standard for every candidate. Saying "she's doing something bad so I will do something bad too" is juvenile and idiotic. His failure to release his tax returns stands on its own.
Furthermore, he promised to do it - and failed to live up to that promise. He's clearly hiding something.

(32,777 posts)WHERE ARE THE TRANSCRIPTS?
annavictorious
(934 posts)One year's short form is only thing that's out there.
But I do agree that Sanders should release the transcripts of his remarks at those high dollar donor events. What did socialist Bernie say to the millionaires at the retreats that led them to donate to his senate campaigns?
Maybe that he'd sit on a back bench in Congress and do nothing except occasionally bluster to the Vermont Free Press.

Hey Sanders, give us eight years worth so we can practice our reading skills.
And give us the amended FEC filings too. We'd like to see exactly how many foreign donors you had to return money to.

(6,551 posts)Because in those tax returns, are the $200,000 payoff that the Board of Trustees paid to dismissed Jane while Burlington College was reeling from the effects of her multi-million dollar expansion campaign that failed. When Jane took the payment on her way out the door, the college was reeling from hundreds of thousands of $$$ in debt caused by her venture. Since her exit, the college, with less than 300 students has been placed on financial probation by its only accreditation agency. This past February, the estate of a donor has sued the college because it used the donor's $70,000 gift to pay its bills when it was given to fund student scholarships.
That $200,000 payout is in those returns. Such doesn't jive with Bernie and Jane's campaign against income inequality.

(135,425 posts)There's something in them he does not want us to see.
No decent "accountant" would take this long to "review" them.
Blame the wife only worked for a bit: http://americablog.com/2016/04/sanders-refuses-release-taxes-blames-wife.html
Then the "You'll get them as soon as they're ready" excuse was floated: http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-04-15/sanders-paid-27-653-in-2014-taxes-on-income-of-205-271
Now Bernie has flung the whole burden on his spouse, and she's trying to pull the "You show me YOUR speeches, I'll show you MY taxes." Obviously, she doesn't understand that any candidate who doesn't release a substantial clutch of their tax returns gets SHIT ON in the election process. She shouldn't be surprised this is happening.
I'll tell ya, he's going to see this issue again--IF he runs for reelection in 2018.
