New Polling Shows Sanders, Not Clinton, Most Formidable Against Trump

http://www.commondreams.org/news/2016/05/10/new-polling-shows-sanders-not-clinton-most-formidable-against-trump

Surveys have repeatedly found Bernie Sanders beating the presumptive GOP nominee by a larger margin than Hillary Clinton.

As forces in both major parties have begun to mobilize against a Trump presidency, a new national poll out Tuesday reveals the most surefire way to derail the GOP frontrunner: Nominate Bernie Sanders.

The NBC News/SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll found that if the 2016 presidential election were held today, 53 to 40 percent of voters would elect Sanders over Donald Trump—which is more than double the margin that Hillary Clinton holds over the presumptive Republican nominee.

According to the survey, which was conducted online from May 2 through May 8, the former secretary of state also leads Trump, but with a far smaller margin: 49 to 44 percent, with an error estimate of plus or minus 1.3 percentage points.

Meanwhile, a separate poll found that in key presidential swing states the anointed nominees are running neck and neck.

(snip)

"If Democrats want to have the strongest candidate against Donald Trump they should look at those polls," Sanders declared during a rally at New Jersey's Rutgers University on Sunday. National polls have repeatedly shown Sanders beating Trump by a larger margin than Clinton.

being the ESTABLISHMENT candidate is toxic, donnie boys handlers will have an easy time raking hrc over - which he can't do to Sanders.

how the dnc (and most here) doesn't see this is astounding.

That's another part of reality at play here

Clinton's people are pretty much obligated to ignore that

When you don't get the most votes too.

But if more people had voted for Bernie than for Hillary
then he'd have easily won.

Alas.
Bernie got crushed.

If the poll is in Bernie's favor , it is believable because ...revolution! But when it favors Clinton we are constantly reminded if how awful polls are "Remember Michigan and Indiana?!"

The polls also say Bernie's "favorability rating" is sinking.

Then there's that darn math thing.
No Bernie isn't going to win 80% of the next few elections and hundreds of super delegates are not going to flip to Bernie's side.

And Bernie is so popular with everyone they will all vote for him.. just look at those crowds , his interviews with Rachel Maddow and on ABC!.. and the and yards full of Bernie signs!" , but the reason he didn't win is because nobody really knows who he is! The MSM never has him on and never let's him speak!

Democrats choose the Democrat in the Primary. Then all of us choose between All of the Above in the Election. The DLC doesn't have that one near to in the bag. But, hey, they got their candidate nominated.

Also, it's a bit early to be Whistling Past the Graveyard. Every day regarding Bernie is, well, boring, to be sure. Same old, same old. But our other candidate...every day is another dropping shoe and doesn't seem to be ending.

We use the electoral college, so individual states, particularly swing states, are more important than overall totals.

Trump has an electoral college problem, regardless of our nominee. If the election were held now, Clinton would thump him:
