A viral photograph does not show a massive Bernie Sanders rally in California, but rather a May Day march in Havana.

(19,808 posts)He lost in states like New York with crowds of 28 thousand. I'm beginning to feel that people just want to crowd around and yell because football season hasn't started again.
You are so funny.
... can't wait for football season to start...
You did mean that as a joke, didn't you?
Proud Bernie voter and all - I still find this hilarious.

The fact that the size of the crowd doesn't correlate to voter turnout?
The candidate's unchanging message?

BTW, he's about to go on another winning streak. I bet that scares the shit out of the corporate media - I mean, they have to report on elections, don't they?

(154,021 posts)is radically different than that of CNN... from the same reporter.
I actually told that reporter that I loved his well informed, middle of the road, reporting on CNN-I, and I did. The producer did not like it when I pointed the problems with his reporting within ten minutes for the American audience. Talk about bias.
The difference, the foreign audience does not tolerate the soft propaganda that US Media peddles internally. It is indeed Pravda like.

(1,446 posts)Aside from the fact that Sanders doesn't have enough delegates to win, let's take a look at his rallies.
To be generous, why don't we say that 100,000 unique people have attended a Sanders rally each week for the past year. That would mean that a total of 5.2 million people have been to a rally. (Let's not even get into the fact that some of the people attending are not supporters, or are just curious...for example I went to a rally in NY last month, just to see what kind of people were there.)
Given the U.S. population of 320 million, a simple calculation tells us that only 1.6% of Americans have been to a Sanders rally. Again, this is extremely generous. Bottom line is that a candidate needs far more than just rallies to get enough votes to win. Different demographics have different abilities or desires to attend rallies. My parents and most of their friends would rather donate money than change their schedules to attend a rally or volunteer their time. But, they are all very loyal voters.
Trying to appeal to young people, who are most likely to come out and wait in line for hours to see a candidate, is a very old and common device of a fringe candidate to develop the optics which make them seem viable. This is why such candidates inevitably develop campaign promises designed to appeal to young people. I will admit that this tactic did work well for Sanders for a while, but obviously won't win him the race.
