2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWV results prove that the rust belt wants progressivism, not pandering bs from Hillary.
If you want to win states like West Virginia you give them a progressive that they can trust and get behind. No matter how credible Hillary is as a conservative, she'll never win the rust belt or Appalachia. Bernie can WHILE maintaining progressive ideals.

The Rust Belt has overwhelmingly voted for Hillary. PA, OH, IL.

(14,915 posts)The fact that Hillary can't relate or reach them doesn't mean they 'want' Trumpism. I swear, some of you want to lose the GE just to get to listen to Hillary pander for another six months.

This one today is adorable. Buncha WV Trump supporters held a meeting, voted for Sanders.
Because how else can we explain how the perfect Hillary could lose so badly?

(55,981 posts)support Sanders where we have a chance to defeat him. It's your bed, go lay in it.
for some reason they decided it would be far easier to support clinton so that trump will win instead of just supporting trump in the first place. Someone is feeling berned obviously.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)they arrogantly, stubbornly stuck with Clinton. They along with the oligarchy would rather Hillary lose to Trump than Sanders. The Oligarchy, as Goldman-Sachs and the Koch Bros made clear, would rather have Clinton or a Republicon. They fear Sanders. Why some Democrats embrace Goldman-Sachs/Clinton in lieu of embracing helping those among us struggling is crazy. I guess it's blindly following a tough Authoritarian leader that makes them comfy. Mean while 2.5 million American children but Goldman-Sachs and their minions don't care.

(7,369 posts)predictive standards out there Clinton beats trump, what is there one where she doesn't out of 7 and on that one they didn't even do Sanders vs Trump from what I can find. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/general_election_trump_vs_clinton-5491.html
Sure Sanders beats him by more points but to say that Clinton wont beat him is the height of arrogance. Only one my ass. On your first sentence you uttered nonsense, I have addressed that. Your other ones are just as wrong.

(7,369 posts)"But Trump edges slightly ahead if the stay-at-home option is removed."
"The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on April 27-28, 2016 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. "
+ or - 3% could easily take 39 to 41 Clinton vs Trump to a 42-38 Clinton vs Trump. Regardless out of the 7 polls give Clinton has an average of 6.4 winning. Those are great odds and without a doubt not anywhere close to coming to the conclusion that Sanders is the only one to beat Trump to anyone who is not a ideologue.

nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)that leaves us with democrats not voting for Clinton, By the way, those independents are not the majority of the voters. The folks at CBS really need basic math. 44-23, (max number of indies according to some, 2012 had them at seventeen) is 21. You really think all independents came out to vote today? Really?
That said, this is nice proof that independents are not going to vote for her either. See the problem here?

(31,849 posts)Another way to see these results could be:
The same voters that preferred the white woman over the Black man (in 2008), prefer the white man over the white female (in 2016).
And, when you factor in trump ... they prefer the white "uber-AMERICAN" male over the Jewish man and the white woman.
Did you think about that?

(12,689 posts)West Virginia isn't progressive one bit, it's super conservative. 40% of those who voted for Sanders said they would vote for Trump over him in the general election, so that tells you all that you need to know. This isn't no great progressive victory. Clinton was Obama's Secretary of State, which means that West Virginia was going to vote for anyone but her, because they hate Obama. A man in prison got 40% of the vote against Obama in the 2012 primary.
If 40% of Sanders supporters would dump him for Trump in November that doesn't say progressive at all.
