2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe REAL exit poll story of yesterday's WV Democratic primary.
May I direct your attention the top line of each question, which Clinton supporters ignore at the peril of every person with an IQ high enough to realize what a disaster Herr Drumpf would be for the USA.
Among yesterday's WV Democratic voters, Clinton outpolls Trump by just 44%-36% in a GE contest. That's just an +8% spread among Democratic voters. Clinton cannot even garner the support of 45% of WV's DEMOCRATIC primary voters!
Among yesterday's WV Democratic voters, Sanders outpolls Trump by 51%-33% in a GE contest. That's a 10% better spread than Clinton has among yesterday's Democratic voters.
THAT IS THE BIG STORY FROM YESTERDAY'S PRIMARY. Clinton does not even have the General Election support of 45% of WV's DEMOCRATIC primary voters!

(11,366 posts)You have to either register as a Republican, a Democrat, Mountain, Libertarian or Unaffiliated and you had to make that decision before April 19.
The only people who could vote in the Democratic primary were those registered as either Democratic or Unaffiliated and only 19 percent of West Virginians are registered as "unaffiliated."
By April 19, the Republicans still had a contest. No one would know back then that Trump wouldn't have a challenger by May 10. A true Republican would certainly want more to vote in their contested race than worry about the Democratic race.
So, unless the state is full of gypsy soothe-seers, these voters were not "actually Republicans."
