Early morning musing

I don't think crowd sizes correlate well with voting patterns, but that sure doesn't mean they're not meaningful. Whether it's enormous and enthusiastic crowds for Trump or Bernie or candidate Obama in 2008, they reveal a yearning for change and civic involvement. They reveal that people are willing to put their bodies where their beliefs are.

In Missoula yesterday, over 9,000 people showed up. Thousands more attended another rally in Billings. These folks know that Bernie isn't going to be the nominee, but they've still overflowing venue after venue. So what are they saying? I think they're signaling that they care about the issues that Bernie articulates and that they're paying attention. And that they will continue to do so. The Democratic Party holders who wield the levers of power may not be comfortable with this, but young people are the future, and they'd be wise to listen.

I hope the crowds of people attending these rallies and other Sanders supporter vote in the general election for the democratic nominee and stay involved. And I hope that Bernie becomes a surrogate for Hillary on the campaign trail with young people, blasting the hell out of the talking yam.

Why? It's the only way I see for the movement, revolution, whatever you want to call it, to stay viable. It's the best way for Bernie to return to the Senate as one of its most powerful members.

Bernie Sanders spoke to two "yuuuuge" rallies in Montana on Wednesday, drawing thousands to hear his message and to support his campaign. In Missoula, Montana, at least 9,000 people attended the rally earlier in the day and some reports said that thousands weren't even able to make it into the venue. In Billings, Montana, that evening, the count was still coming in, but the arena was so packed that people had to listen on speakers in overflow areas. Some people on Facebook commented that they didn't even think there were that many people in Montana! But apparently there were enough to pack both of Sanders' rallies.

would be a great winning combination for the general election. If Bernie can rally his troops for Hillary to defeat Trump, it will be his greatest contribution.

I think Hillary Clinton is one of the worst dem nominees in history.

It's just that Trump is unspeakable. Unthinkable.
