(3,830 posts)the FEC is investigating Bernie for
irregularities in his fund raisning.
If he's not totally above board he should
do some jail time IMHO.

(1,198 posts)and a civil infraction (like Hillary's 40ish premeditated FOIA violations she is being sued for).
Keep reading the newspapers and the difference will come into sharper focus soon.
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)Every month there are irregularities that they call out and give them a deadline to fix and or respond. So far no news source has followed up on any of those old stories, so I'm assuming they have all been fixed, as will this one (although I'm not seeing a story in the news on google).
If you accidentally make an error on your taxes and the IRS asks you to fix it, what to you do? Fix it, or go to jail?
You need to stop these stupid recurring stories that don't have a leg to stand on because they are nothing stories, being pushed by Brock to drum up anger and loathing in the Hill camp, and apparently they are working.
griffi94
(3,830 posts)was just negligent and not criminal.
That's kind of a cold comfort.
Bernie should come clean.

(3,022 posts)you felt the same about the fines levied by the FEC against President Obama's campaign? Or should we assume you are a raging hypocrite?

griffi94

(3,022 posts)Or are you looking for something to bash Senator Sanders over. This OP looks like you are opting for bash. In so doing you are exposing your raging hypocrisy. Thank you for showing us what you are.

tonedevil
(3,022 posts)how the law has been applied in the past what basis do have for that conclusion? Are you under the impression the normal penalty for the violations the FEC sent Senator Sanders letters over result in jail time for the offenders? If that is not the case why would you demand that for Senator Sanders?
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)No one goes to jail over it. They fix their errors and move on.
Yet for some reason, you want Bernie in prison. I think that says quite a bit about you, and very little about this issue.
griffi94
(3,830 posts)Bernie has been caught red handed in financial misconduct
with regards to his campaign donations.
JimDandy
(7,318 posts)This could be happening to anyone including when "Maddie" makes lots of little donations to Hillary.
FuzzyRabbit
(2,217 posts)the thousands of other candidates whose fund raising reported some irregularities.
Oh, I just remembered, sometimes they are fined, and sometimes they revise their reports, but they are never jailed.
But Berine deserves to go to jail because he is running against Hillary. Right?

that's what this thread is all about. Now I'm asking again for a link to the news that he is being investigated, because everything I'm coming up with on google are wild assed statements like yours that he is doing all this illegal shit, and yet all those FEC reports got corrected...and the dates of all those stories are a couple of months old...they have been fixed and are no longer a problem.
So where is the news link to the current problem, and who is investigating him?
Come on...fess up or keep this crap out of DU.
griffi94
(3,830 posts)He should face some jail time just like anybody else would.

(1,235 posts)... that Sanders or anyone on the campaign is sending in doctored FEC reports (instead of actual reports that the FEC examines and provides feedback as to what donations that either need to be returned or need more detailed information provided,) then they should be charged with whatever crime is appropriate.
But being charged for following reporting requirements, including the line items that need to be further addressed? That seems a bit excessive?
I'd be much more suspicious if someone was sending in FEC reports that never had any "mistakes" than ones that did ... the one with the mistakes you can have a bit more confidence that no one is going through the report hiding questionable donations ... the 'perfect' FEC filing makes one wonder how it got so 'perfect.
