2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary's doing what Bush, Cruz, Rubio, and others couldn't do
Bush, Cruz, Rubio, and others had all the advantages of the Republican establishment, Republican money, Republican primary rules designed to favors establishment candidates, but none of them could beat Donald in this year when many people are angry at the establishment.
Hillary on the other hand is very likely to defeat Sanders. I suppose this means that Hillary is a more talented establishment politician than any of the establishment Republicans or Sanders is inferior anti-establishment politician compared to Trump.

(30,058 posts)The final whistle is soon going to sound and there will not be any more primaries, no more votes and no more pledged delegates for Sanders to get, Hillary only needs 148 more delegates, there Re more than 148 super delegates which have not endorsed, two of those are the Clintons. She can skate.

(62,269 posts)If either Clinton or Sanders has the same kind of coverage they would be in the same place. Indeed, I argued early on that Sanders could win because the media likes it's horse races.

(27,247 posts)Cruz and Rubio, at least, did NOT have all the advantages of the Republican establishment, Republican money, etc. They were relatively unknown outside of their respective states, they were NOT given special treatment by the RNC, and the RNC was not being run by someone who had earlier been their presidential campaign co-chair. They were given ample opportunities for national debates well before any voter registration deadline had passed. And Bush had the DISADVANTAGE of being associated with his disastrous brother and the 2000 Florida shenanigans, as well as a general unease about having THREE people from the SAME FAMILY serving as President within a time frame of less than 3 decades.
