Hillary's take on privacy on the internet?

One thing I've worried about is Hillary's message on privacy.

Her calls for a "Manhattan-like project" to break encryption make me think she's going to be for more programs like the ones Snowden disclosed. She's also been generally anti-encryption in the past. She's also never really come out against language such as the problematic parts of TPP which could affect whistleblowers, and given the current track record I wouldn't expect her to be protective of whistleblowers.

I don't see these things discussed a lot so I'm really interested in discussion around this topic. Are there anything that would show her in a better light on these issues, or is there any agreement her stance here problematic?

1. She knows all about it

She got hacked as SoS.

But she is like; "Who? Me?"

Evidently, she likes sharing state secrets with the Chinese and Russians. But not to worry, she's never going to be in position to do any of that again.

As for the rest of us: We're cooked. Best to do is never put anything online that you can't talk with friends about.

2. Best not to do anything anywhere. With all the security cameras in buildings, firms, stores, parking

lots, streets, etc. (Think all the videos and photos of the Tsarnaev brothers along the Boston Marathan route.) Many are audio capable as well.

Since Justice Brennan was on the bench, which was a long time ago, they've been using devices that can hear conversations inside your home or office from the street, so they don't even have to get inside to plant a "bug."

They can put a tracking device on your car.

They've been able to tap your phone since forever.

And only then do we get to all the computer/online crap.

4. When I think "what should we devote collective society-scale energies to, a la a manhattan project"

I think, hmmm, scalable fusion, maybe a durable human presence elsewhere in the Solar System, ending poverty, clean water for the world, developing new antibiotics....

a Manhattan Project to make sure no one can encrypt their snapchats and the FBI can monitor Tommy Chong's icloud photostream for pictures of pot smoking....

not the first thing that springs to mind.

Rarely in the context of privacy concerns, though. I wonder why she's generally given a pass on this?
