If he wants to do itif Sanders wants to build a lasting movement to fight moneys outsize influencehe has to close one door to open another. The transition from contender to gracious supporter of the nominee isnt easy for any presidential candidate, but he needs to make it, and soon.
Story Continued Below
We already know Sanders isnt going to win the Democratic Partys nomination; Hillary Clinton has amassed more than 92 percent of the delegates needed to secure the nomination, and shell easily pick up the rest. So right now, Sanders campaign is the walking dead: a zombie. And having worked for John Kerry during the slugfest of the 2004 primaries, Ive seen up close how much damage this sort of prolonged "zombie" candidacy can inflict on the eventual nomineeand whats ultimately at stake for the country.

(37,428 posts)1. Bullshit thesis that also misses two big points.
"Must close one door to open another" is an arbitrary assertion that the author doesn't bother to support.
Misses:
1) Sanders didn't start the revolution. That's been brewing for years in America, and happens to intersect with Sanders' existing agenda. He didn't suddenly develop presidential ambitions a year ago.
2) A primary campaign isn't only about who gets the nomination. Therefore there is no obligation for any candidate to drop out when a laay Politico writer suddenly asserts a deadline.

The party is the zombie, not Sanders. Nailed it.
People blindly follow their BS without putting any critical thought into it.
