Bernie Beware: Socialism and Capitalism's image unchanged, per Gallup

http://www.gallup.com/poll/191354/americans-views-socialism-capitalism-little-changed.aspx?g_source=Economy&g_medium=newsfeed&g_campaign=tiles

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Even though Bernie Sanders, a self-described "Democratic socialist," has generated strong support for his presidential campaign, Americans' image of socialism is no better now than it was six years ago. Thirty-five percent of Americans have a positive view of the term socialism, similar to what was found in 2012 and 2010. The 60% who have a positive view of capitalism is also unchanged from six years ago.

Just off the top of your head, would you say you have a positive or negative image of each of the following?
% Positive
'16 '12 '10
Small business 96 95 95
Entrepreneurs 87 86 84
Free enterprise 85 89 86
Capitalism 60 61 61
Big business 53 58 49
The federal government 44 51 46
Socialism 35 39 36

Bernie vs. Trump would wind up being Capitalism vs. Socialism. We all know which one wins.

Capitalism and big business beat out the federal government.

"Government isn't the solution, government is the problem." --Ronald Reagan

This is why we can't have the social programs that the other developed nations have. It is shameful that people on a site called Democratic Underground are reveling in this right wing hogwash.

'Murica doesn't do nuance very well.

Michael Moore made a great case for Bernie economic policies tonight, but could people process the argument? I have little faith.

9. As a Poli-Sci Continuing Ed student, there is a whole lot of flaw in how you present this article.

.

There is almost zero nuance or analytical thought. Most of the socialism negatives come from the GOP side and older people. This is to be expected, while Millennials have a more favorable attraction to it.

Also, people can have a strong favoritism towards Capitalism and Socialism both, as they are not mutually exclusive. As an American, were were all raised, for the past 150 plus years on this concept and have a solid foundation in it. Socialism, as presented by the pollster firm, lacks the separation of Democratic Socialism, which this country is deeply rooted in, under the guise of Capitalism.

Without actually seeing the questions, this is a subjective survey, and the presentation by others is equally so--especially when they have a political leaning towards one candidate or another and are trying to spin the issues to favor 'their' candidate.

There is just so much wrong with the way this survey was written up. Your presentation of one snippet lacks so much other data and analysis, but it is clearly done to present your skewed message. This is the shit that tires me when covering campaigns.

or is it one of those where you just think stuff, memorize facts (but not methods like in STEM) and get an A?
