Jon Ralston ?@RalstonReports May 13Unity, via Bernie, for NV. "Working together respectfully and constructively..."
Jon Ralston ?@RalstonReports 23h23 hours ago
Sanders folks threaten to disrupt NV convention.
Reid gets Bernie to put out unity statement Friday night.
Everyone will get along today.
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 21h21 hours ago
Not everyone is done registering, but that basically means Clinton has more supporters in the room, which bodes well for delegate count.
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 21h21 hours ago
First credentials report: 1,245 Clinton delegates; 1,149 Sanders delegates. 373 Clinton alts, 326 Sanders alts.
Jon Ralston ?@RalstonReports 21h21 hours ago
Those are prelim credentials. But shows Hillary NV campaign got its act together after county convention disaster.
Jon Ralston @RalstonReports
Bernie folks vote against delegate count report. They lose. Now they are standing and booing. Unity now!
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 20h20 hours ago
Bernie crowd up here protesting that recent vote. One iPad has "point of order" written on it.
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 20h20 hours ago
@rlange9 says once everyone is in their seats they will discuss the rules.
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 20h20 hours ago
@HillaryClinton crowd now chanting "take your seats" to the group of Bernie folks at the front of the room.
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 20h20 hours ago
Group of several dozen up here. One of the Bernie people shouted that vice chair Chris Wicker is a part of the mafia
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 20h20 hours ago
Temporary rules pass, per @rlange9's assessment of the voice vote. Some Bernie supporters now up front yelling at her.
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 20h20 hours ago
Sanders supporters still shouting at front of the room as speaker tries to talk about the party's platform.
Megan Messerly ?@meganmesserly 20h20 hours ago
Bernie crowd at front of room shouting "this is fixed" and "no confidence."
Megan Messerly @meganmesserly
One of the Bernie delegates in the CD3 room just yelled "F Hillary and F the DNC" in his speech.
Laura Martin ?@LauraKMM 21h21 hours ago
Jesus, the @BernieSanders supporters at the front of the stage are screaming at and booing @ninaturner
Laura Martin ?@LauraKMM 21h21 hours ago
Sanders supporters screaming at @nvdems chairs. Getting scary

Final delegate count shows 20-15, Hillary, as projected after caucus.
Establishment Ben ?@crazybenghazi04 15h15 hours ago
#NevadaConvention Reminder, Hillary won Nevada by 5% on caucus day. That result will not change.
Steve Sebelius ?@SteveSebelius 11h11 hours ago
So, bottom line, and contrary to earlier reports, @HillaryClinton pretty much won Nevada.
Jon Ralston @RalstonReports
Bernie folks essentially left to complain about:
1. Switch in measly 1 or 2 delegates.
2. Hillary/party mean to them.
3. Life isn't fair.
Jon Ralston ?@RalstonReports 20h20 hours ago
You say you want a revolution
Well....
This ain't a revolution.
It's just noise about rules.

"We need a medic in the front. A medic in the front."
At a goddamn Democratic convention.
from Raw Story:
The Democratic convention in Nevada turned violent on Saturday, with at least one fight breaking out, according to video posted Twitter users who were in attendance.
Tensions were high between supporters of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the Las Vegas Sun reports. They apparently spilled over on the state convention floor.
People can be seen scuffling, and a woman says into a microphone, We need a medic in the front, a medic in the front.

(85,977 posts)...and the results from the convention matched that result exactly.
What you're complaining about is the failure of your campaign to overturn the will of those who caucused. I think that's an unpitiable complaint, really, in response to the results yesterday.
What sort of Democratic process works to undo and reverse the results of a caucus or vote? What's the value of a campaign which works to undo the results of an election with intimidation and bullying at convention time?
Amaril
(1,267 posts)is that this has happened in state after state after state, and all your camp does is stick your fingers in your ears & sneer "you're just mad 'cause our person won".
How can you not be as PISSED as I am that even ONE person -- regardless of who they intended to vote for -- was denied their right to vote, and under what appear to be extraordinarily suspicious circumstances?
THAT is the thing that lights my goddam ass on fire. THAT is the Republican way -- "I got mine, so fuck you" -- NOT the Democrat way. This party fought and fought HARD to make sure that EVERYone's voice is heard. What the fuck has happened to us???
bigtree
(85,977 posts)...and I'd like to see the process addressed in a comprehensive way. the problem is that states have constitutional control over how they send delegates to the convention. These issues are not only out of candidate's direct control, they are often tied up with republican state official's and state election law and procedure which isn't subject to some quick fix by the time people vote.
What you need to do is petition the state party and organize to make a difference in the process of elections in your state.
What I demur at is the suggestion that this is something which could have or should have changed the results of the Nevada caucus. The numbers weren't there for a sanders victory, with or without these folks overcoming the procedures which denied them and getting credentialed.
At the convention, more Clinton folks showed up and they were able to prevail over the vote on the rules. The credentials committee, however, is evenly split between campaigns. The results at the convention actually matched the results of the caucus. What more you want from that process isn't clear to me.
LiberalFighter
(50,789 posts)Despite the numbers from the credentials committee saying otherwise. Even if those 64 were added back in they still wouldn't have the majority.
Also, nothing prevented the Sanders group from electing their National Delegates as only their people could vote for them. Meaning that a state delegate has to declare whether they will vote for a Sanders or a Clinton delegate ballot. They can't do both.
Amaril
(1,267 posts)is for the party to come back together and address these issues as a unified whole. Right now it appears that Sanders' supporters are the only ones raising the red flags, and they are being met with condescension and derision.
As I said in my last response, it doesn't matter which candidate someone intended to vote for, if they are shut out then democracy has failed. We, as a party, should not allow it to happen, and both candidates -- and their supporters -- should be speaking to it.
I've got to run now -- an appointment at 4:00 that I'm going to be late for if I don't get myself into the shower and dressed like now.
LiberalFighter
(50,789 posts)It has only happened in only a handful of states. And more than likely NOT by the Democratic Party. That just turns out to be the easiest one for them to blame.
By the way. These events are run by rules. If there weren't any rules there would be total chaos and mob rule. Mobs are not going to get their way under these circumstances.

(11,495 posts)It's the same thing as the anti Obama crowd that came to DU after he was first elected, and started in bashing him. Their numbers grew, and their hate increased, and they never were for him in the first place. I really don't think most of them were even real Democrats, Liberals, or Progressives.
They were also the "anyone but Hillary" crowd, and sadly the latched on the Bernie so they could us hime to do more damage to the party. They took over the Bernie group here on DU, more of them came in and helped spew right wing talking points, and it's the same with the ones now who cause problems like the one in Nevada. They want to divide the party and take over so they can "purge" everyone that does not think like them. Karl Rove loves these guys, hell he probably is paying a lot of them to do the shit they do. What we have to remember is they don't want us to vote because they know the Democratic nominee would win. They are doing their damnedest to get people not to vote, and we can't let them win.
They are playing both sides here on DU and keeping the fighting going to help them with their agenda. Don't feed the trolls, ignore them and soon they will all go away once we have nominee.

The only way such a large body can function is to be at order during the proceedings. It looks to me as though some Sanders supporters are not familiar with how thing work and were unwilling to come to order.
The appropriate thing for the Chair to say is: "The Sergeant at Arms will remove delegates who will not come to order from the room."

(1,442 posts)Primaries are party focused so let me correct something you posted...
"The candidate who represents the will of the party is the candidate who garners the most votes"
How can I state this? SDs... they pledged before a SINGLE primary vote BY THE PEOPLE was even cast...

I fully expect much more of the same to occur at DEM convention with establishment shenanigans playing out
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,708 posts)They play a role similar to the Electoral College. Theoretically the Electors in any state don't have to follow the popular vote of their state and could vote for whomever they want. However they almost never do.

There's no reason at all to revisit any of it, and it won't be reopened. Sanders lost by 5% and Hillary won. End of story.

(47,803 posts)when efforts to stifle reform become heavy handed at all levels, people's passions get strong.
It's a microcosm of what may happen on a national scale over time, unless the political system -- including the Democratic Party -- stops expecting everyone to silently acquiesce to the mandates of the Corporate Imperative and Wall St. values, and the Elites who prop them up.
