Host city committees are always made up of movers and shakers from that city who know it best and know how to make things happen there from a logistics standpoint.

Charlotte convention had a few moderate Repubs in its mix. Every convention host city does. Same with GOP convention when it is held in Cleveland.

People who write these articles are either unfamiliar with what it takes to be a host city or they know and they are counting on their audience NOT knowing as they fill their minds with the narrative they wish to further.

And those Republicans and corporate reps aren't going to get the smooth, balloon-festooned, Pepsodent-white-smile, red-white-and-blue, piece of made-for-television theater that they imagine their convention will be. Nevada was just a hint of things to come. It was a pipe dream to think that a country with a population as big as ours would just continue drinking the KoolAid forever.
