2016 Postmortem

of what we can expect at the actual convention? What happens there if these people ignore Bernie's plea to be civil?

(11,366 posts)She was there to talk-up Hillary and Nina Turner was there to talk-up Bernie.
Where Boxer made the wrong move was starting her speech with the condescending "hush hush Bernie children" we've come to expect from the Hillary crowd.
Pro-Tip: If we're old enough to vote, we're not children. Thank you.

Florencenj2point0
(435 posts)she asked them to follow Sander's request to be civil! She was right, they were booing him. They were a mess. They were angry at non democrats being dismissed as delegates to the DEMOCRATIC convention. You'd think anyone with a brain would know that was a necessary credential.
Good Lord I can't wait until this is over. <---- this is what the majority of Bernie and Hillary People are going to be doing when election day comes in November and the rest can be PUMA if they want.

(11,366 posts)Some may hold their nose and vote, some may vote third party, some of the Independents will go Trump, but there will be no hugging in unity. She scares us as much as Trump does.

(7,321 posts)for her courageous stand against the 2004 election theft. She hasn't always "wowed" me wrt to a number of votes she's taken through the years, but her good ones outnumbered the bad ones.
I would never have dreamed she would put on such a disgusting performance and openly insult Bernie Sanders supporters like this.
Never. She's got nothing to lose now since she's retiring her Senate seat. Her future doesn't depend on progressives votes who put her and kept in that office.
DISGUSTING!
Seems like she's got high stakes in the offing here.
Perhaps she's been tapped on the shoulder for VP position.
By Hook or By Crook eh, Barbara?
Shame on you!

and I base it in what I've observed of Rand supporters over the years, including the ones who invaded DU at times, and what I know about my fellow Sanders supporters here in Meck County. My Sanders voting compatriots don't act viciously, vulgarly, or violently.
So, to me, it is far more likely that they are disruptors - the same ones pushing the Bernie or Bust narrative.

(646 posts)The Nevada Democratic Party said that 58 Sanders supporters were denied because they either were not registered Democrat voters by May 1 or their information (address, date of birth, name, etc.) could not be verfied.
They weren't even Democrats. Why should they be delegates at the convention....

If you think that is doing your job correctly, then you live in a different country than I do.

(47,053 posts)It does not clearly show the whole story at all. All we know from it, is that Bernie supporters are upset and think they were cheated.

(10,493 posts)There are nearly no HRC supporters willing to own the truth. I Left the window cracked only because as it turns out, there was at least one HRC supporter at the convention yesterday (a former 3 term congressman) who was upset enough over the NV chair and the charade, that he walked out.

Ah back to the future, 1968. At least some of the real old hands (I think Mitchell was there) might remember the credentials fight on the floor. I suspect though, riot party favors shan't be packed though.

(9,385 posts)Cheaters are dickish sore losers by definition.
If there's more cheating by HRC at the convention, which seems likely, then who would be surprised if that doesn't go well?
HRC and the Dem establishment don't seem to understand something -- we voters don't take orders from them. They don't pay us, and we don't owe them anything -- not even civility if it is undeserved. So they can just get down off of their high horses right now, because we aren't buying any of it.
As Bernie has already explicitly said, we don't take orders from him either.
What can you expect -- that's easy. There are youtube videos of inside the 1968 Chicago convention. Watch them. Pull the same shit, most likely get the same reaction.
Go that way, expect to lose just like then. But "Watergate 2.0" will still happen.

how closely '16 will compare to '68 convention should be intriguing with social media and the current MSM outlets around to report on it all....

(146,248 posts)on the National Convention floor, though, and perhaps those who become national delegates will be a little less abrasive and more inclined to work within the Convention's rules.
I expect, however, that there will be a lot of rancor exhibited outside of the convention venue, in whatever areas are provided for dissent.

(435 posts)need to think about that old saying "You reap what you sow." You ramp up everyone's anger and tel them they are being cheated and disenfranchised you can not then say "oh be respectful, be civil" it's not going to work. I kind of felt sorry for whats her name the AA congress woman who has been all over TV being so nasty about Clinton, lying about her and mischaracterizing her words and actions. She tried yesterday to get the crowd under control and she couldn't. What goes around comes around Lady!
