(58,785 posts)Instead of a candidate. Shouldn't knowing that so far over 3 million more people have chosen one candidate over another generate a comfort, albeit disappointed, in knowing the democratic process all our futures depend on is working as it should?
Principled people do not support Bernie's determination to overset the majority vote and take the presidency by hook or crook. That is not democracy.

(11,785 posts)That's the opposite of the point the OP was making. Maybe you have to be old enough to remember '68.

(651 posts)Does the 1900 election matter too?

(29,257 posts)Nothing can EVER be compared to anything!
The fact that we have been at war non-stop for the last 14 years has no relation to the relatively meagerly short Vietnam War.

(651 posts)How does me saying that the election from 1968 has little in common with the election today mean that I don't think any two things can be compared? The country then and now is so radically different that you might as well be comparing two different countries all together. I realize that this is one of the talking points the Clinton crowd throws out, but you'd have to actually prove that the contexts are comparable. Now, me saying they aren't (because they aren't) doesn't mean that you can't ever compare something to something. I would argue that the country is so different politically, socially, environmentally, that we might as well draw lessons from the 1900 election.

(882 posts)is that sooner or later some of them get mad and react. And when they do, it's easy to smear the entire movement they are a part of. So easy that even the average internet junior propagandist can do it with ease. Like painting by numbers. Especially if the media just glosses over what provoked the anger and reaction.
And then amidst all the back and forth the argument has shifted to who the real bully is. In the case of this primary, not much talk anymore about single payer health care, money in politics, the influence of Wall Street, minimum wage, the best way to make college affordable, etc. (Not that there was much real discussion to begin with, but now it's just gone)
This works out pretty well for Clinton. I'd expect more provocation.

They sure don't respect the democratic process very much, clearly.

(51,550 posts)If Sanders supporters respected the democratic process, they would not be trying to steal the majority of delegates when their candidate lost NV by 5%.
